Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Belmont’s resident assistants (RAs) are the first enforcers of rule violations on campus. They try to create a fun, casual atmosphere in the dorms, but if you break the rules, they won’t hesitate to report you. Practicing an instrument or singing loudly in your room after practice hours are over is a common rule that’s broken at a music school like Belmont. However, you won’t get away with it for long if your neighbors are trying to sleep! Students also get in trouble for violating visitation rules. Any visitors of the opposite sex have to check in at the front desk, and the door to your room must be kept open at all times while you’re hosting them. At the end of visitation hours, the RAs do a sweep of the dorms to make sure all visitors have checked out. Since they keep the visitors’ student IDs at the desk, they’ll know if you’re hiding someone who shouldn’t be there.

Having alcohol on campus is one of the more serious offenses. Residence Life takes this very seriously—your RA is not going to buy you and your underage friends alcohol, so don’t even ask. Of course, with Belmont’s awful parking situation, the most likely punishment you’ll face is a parking ticket. Security officers are notoriously strict about this. All dorms and apartments have specific areas where residents are allowed to park, so even if you’re parked somewhere else on campus, you’ll get ticketed. For the most part, Belmont students are responsible, and the University communicates its rules very clearly. Follow them, and you shouldn’t have any trouble enjoying your time at Belmont!

Dry Campus

Belmont is a dry campus meaning there is no alcohol. It is more strict than most dry campuses and they strictly enforce the policy.

Strictness

Our campus does have rules and visiting hours for the opposite sex ect. but i agree with all the rules and think that it is not that strict at all. We are a dry campus and tobacco free and I do not drink or smoke so I am completely ok with this.

Visitation Policy

The visitation policy can be a little too much I think. Although we're a Christian campus, it should still be allowed for students to visit whenever. There are certain regulations like these that don't allow students to create boundaries for themselves.
