Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

By the time you’re an upperclassman, you may want to seriously consider looking at off-campus housing. Most of the time, it’s actually cheaper than the off-campus apartments, and you don’t have to worry about getting written up for violating one of Belmont’s rules. Of course, the flip side of that is proximity. There are a few apartment complexes and housing options within walking distance of campus, but they’re much more expensive. If you move farther away, you’re going to need plenty of spare time in the morning for your commute, as parking at Belmont is difficult to find! You also won’t have the luxury of running back to your place if you realize you forgot an assignment or just want to relax in between classes.

Most students who live off campus will recruit their good friends as roommates, but if you’re short a few people or can’t find a good place to live, check out Belmont’s Off-Campus Housing Helper. This underutilized tool allows people in the community to post information about spaces for rent in the area. It also links to apartment-finding websites and information about the Nashville public transportation system. You can find the Off-Campus Housing Helper on Belmont’s Residence Life page.

Roommates are the way to go

Off campus housing costs a fortune. I ended up getting a roommate. We moved to Gazebo apartments last year. It's about 10 minutes from campus but I only pay $785 for a 2 bedroom.

House Hunters

Most off-campus housing options in Nashville are an actual house. You have to keep your eyes open for an affordable place that's close to campus, but typically it can be done. Find 3 or 4 roommates and your cost options are even better.
