Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

You’ll hear complaints, of course: “This class is a waste of time,” or “That professor shouldn’t be teaching.” But all in all, anyone who goes to Beloit with the will be to well-educated will come out of Beloit well-educated, as well as stronger willed. What it comes down to is that you’re responsible for your own education. The resources are there. Ninety-nine percent of the time, professors are sitting lonely in their offices, waiting for their students to utilize them. They are approachable and well-informed people, and they will adore you for wanting to hear them talk about their expansive expertise. The professors here only have enough time in class to impart a tiny sliver of their expertise. However, if a student were to ask for a little more information about a topic mentioned in class, the professor could go on for hours to bestow their indispensible and incredibly extensive knowledge upon curious students.

Beloit College will always have its weak points—the art department seems to have to work hard to keep up with the rest, and scheduling can be a problem because of the small size, but one of Beloit’s strongest points is the freedom it gives to its students to wander, experiment with, and mosey through different areas to find what they have a real passion for. And if the packaged deals aren’t quite well-packaged enough, they have a “custom-made” option to please even the pickiest educational palate. Heck, I sure do find my nose just a little higher in the air ever since I started getting a Beloit education. Maybe it’s from the reactions you’ll get from people who know about the college—they make you feel like you’re going to Yale.

Economics

In the Economics department, Beloit College has a good program that help prepare the students for the real world. The workload is a lot but not more than any other subject. The teachers are very nice and helpful and they help get the students jobs/internships.

A Good Environment

Beloit offers various possibilities to develop your own potential and interest. Its wide range of majors and minors is an advantage for those who have not settled their minds with certain future parts because here they can take whatever courses they want to explore, and then make their decisions after their sophomore. Here, nothing is rush!

Also, professors and staff at Beloit are honestly enthusiasm and lively. They help students with all kinds of questions and unbiasedly listen and discuss with students regardless of their backgrounds or the falsity of their beliefs.

Extremely disappointing

Professors vary greatly; some have no experience and others have been there far too long. While this is true for all colleges, at such a small college like Beloit, it makes a huge difference; some departments only contain two or three professors, and when two of them suck, you're not going to have a good experience. Beloit brags about not having TAs teach classes, but instead they have tons of visiting faculty, often with little to no experience. In my personal experience, classes have been incredibly easy; I haven't had such an easy courseload since sophomore year of high school. In most of my classes, I would've just been better off reading the Wikipedia page about the subject than actually going to class. A lot of students don’t take their classes seriously, either. Three-quarters of my economics class slept in class most days, and in my other classes students either a) never showed or consistently showed up late or b) sat in class with a glazed-over look.
