College Prowler Take
Campus security is sympathetic to the college situation. Or, rather, let’s say they know college students are going to drink, but they don’t let us have our cake and eat it, too. Everybody knows the Beloit philosophy on drinking, and for the most part, they follow suit without complaint. Security will give up their buddy status to reprimand people for acting stupid—and there are plenty of those types to go around. But if you are just hanging out and happen to have a drink in your hand, you need not run away from a security officer. It seems, though, that more and more students are causing problems for the whole school by taking advantage of security’s “hey, we’re cool” attitude paired with the relaxed drinking policy. These people are not welcome at Beloit. So if you’re one of those guys (excuse me, persons) who just can’t control yourself with freedom to drink, we all ask you to consider another educational establishment. We’re all about the fun at Beloit College, but we don’t want our pseudo-Euro drinking atmosphere to get taken away because a couple people couldn’t figure out what their limits were. Other than that, campus strictness ain’t too bad.

Security is not strict. In fact, they treat us as adults. A few stupid people take advantage of this and do really stupid things, so I’m hoping the police and their policies won’t change. |

Security makes sure that students are behaving like adults, in terms of drinking, so having a beer on the porch with dinner on a Sunday isn’t going to be noticed, and even if it’s noticed, it isn’t going to get you into any trouble. With drugs, as expected, security takes action (but truthfully, I don’t know what happens). |

Campus police are the ideal college police. They won’t let you get away with anything extreme, but they are more lax because they understand what becomes the norm at the college. |

Drinking is not a problem, as long...
Drinking is not a problem, as long as it’s done responsibly (like not vomiting all over your hall, which will cost you a good sum). There is an on-campus bar/concert venue with air hockey, pool, and darts, which does not allow underage students to bring in their own alcohol, but anywhere else, it’s fine. Beloit’s open campus is amazing because students can drink out in the open, making it safer because people are not afraid to report problems. The only time you’ll get in trouble for drinking is if you do something illegal like vandalism, arson, or assault, but these are not problems at Beloit. |

There is not much strictness at all about drinking and drugs on campus. The police stay completely out of it—and only our own security deals with problems. The repercussions for it are minimum. However, they are beginning to crack down on drinking problems more recently because of problems in the past year. If you are responsible about it, you will not experience any problems. |
