College Prowler Take
Nightlife at Beloit College generally stays on campus. Occasionally, you’ll come across an off-campus party, but the charm of winter keeps students inside, huddling together in the lounges or the C-Haus or whatever on-campus party happens to be going on. Nightlife, in the traditional sense of the word, is rather low-key in Beloit. There is no exciting bar strip nor any dance clubs worth mentioning. This means that students have to use their imaginations to keep things fresh and exciting, and that usually ends with fame and celebrity in the Round Table security reports. A typical night in Beloit includes meeting up with your friends, drinking with those friends, venturing out to check what’s happening on campus, perhaps having a few drunk conversations with a few drunk student philosophers, then going home with or without the aforementioned friends. Sometimes you’ll make ramen, sometimes you’ll order Papa John’s, and sometimes you’ll throw up and fall asleep in your clothes. A fun night at Beloit is hit or miss, but that’s not to say Beloit doesn’t have a nightlife. Though, sometimes it seems more like a night-death.

The parties should just be called dances, because that’s all there is. Perhaps that’s what you should expect of a party. I’m not knocking them, though; it’s fun to go with a bunch of friends. The C-Haus is the bar on campus where bands play. It’s good if you like to smoke, because you’re in a haze of second-hand when you’re there, and it’s crowded. |

Bars are okay in Beloit, and clubs are nonexistent. The only club in Beloit is really ghetto and kind of scary. But there is always Chicago, which is close if you feel the urge to get your club on. As far as campus, the parties are fun because some of them have themes, like ‘Playa’s Ball,’ and I feel safer at campus parties than at the club in Beloit. |

Bars? Clubs? For a state that treats drinking like a profession, you’d think they would have more of a bar atmosphere. There really aren’t any college hot spots. If you like hanging out with townies and/or getting into bar fights, there are a couple places. I prefer going to the liquor store (there are some really, really good ones) and bringing the drinking home to campus. |

Parties on campus . . . well, they have their moments, but after three and a half years, sometimes they all seem the same to me. There are some good bars, though. Suds and the BOP are favorites. Then there is Club Impulse; it’s only been there for about two years. Club Impulse serves 21-and-up only, and ladies night is on Thursdays. It has yet to let me down the few times I have been there. |

The parties on campus are good,...
The parties on campus are good, but they get boring, as they are the same people and the same music at each one. Themed parties are more fun, and parties at special-interest houses tend to be better than fraternity and sorority parties. There are basically no places off campus to go and party unless you’re 21. Suds downtown is a nice little bar, though, with pool and darts. |

FactsClub Crawler
Rumor has it that there is a club in Beloit, but the rumor places it across the river and few venture that way. Rumor also says it’s not that fun.
Bar Prowler
Stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to. Suds O’Hanahan’s, an Irish pub within walking distance from the campus, is popular among the collegiates, as is the BOP.
Organization Parties
Special-interest houses like to throw a party every now and then. Various clubs will throw parties using the special-interest houses as a venue. BSFFA threw a party once. It was amazing. Maybe they'll do it again.

What to Do if You're Not 21
Stay on campus. There are a lot of substance-free parties and events for people who cannot or choose not to partake. People will actually go to them too, believe it or not. And you can always go to the C-Haus, play some pool, see a band, and not drink.
