A-
Campus Shuttles Rock
Since most people are from out-of-state, Beloit will take you to the Van Galder (Coach) bus stop for free, and that will take you to either Madison or Chicago. Van Galder is cheap too. Probably cheaper than the gas if you were to drive.
They also run shuttles to WalMart and other places in town every Wednesday night, and some Sundays. They're always free.
I personally have never used the public bus system (I don't think most people do) but I know you can use it to get to Woodman's (really awesome grocery store). Other than shopping or a movie, there's really no reason to be off campus somewhere that you couldn't walk to. Downtown Beloit is right next to campus, so lots of restaurants, banks, etc. are right there.
Campus is small. From one corner to the other is probably 10, maybe 15 minutes walking. The Hendricks Center (performing arts) is in downtown Beloit, about a block or two away from campus. A lot of people ride bikes, but they're definitely not necessary. Driving to class is practically impossible, and would definitely take longer than walking.
Parking is free, so some WI/IL and some out-of-state kids have cars. There's a ride board in the basement of Pearsons where you can post if you have or need a ride somewhere out-of-town so that people can carpool. Most people offer to split the gas and buy snacks.
