Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Well, here’s a story: one time, it was 60 degrees at the end of January, and another time, we got snow in April. It can be boiling hot one day and sweater weather the next. It can even happen from day to night. We’ve got all the seasons here: winter, spring, summer, fall, Indian summer, and back to winter again—it’s a vicious cycle. Winter seems to hang on the longest, what with all the snow we get that absolutely refuses to leave. There’s generally a snowfall before Thanksgiving and a final smack in the face from winter sometime in March. But it’s anybody’s guess what can happen in between. It rains a lot during the between seasons, so bring your umbrella—actually, bring two, because those things are so easy to lose.

The campus does look pretty gorgeous during the fall and in the winter while the snow is still white. We get some good thunderstorms every now and then, and it feels so good when the campus thaws in the springtime and people start coming out of their dorm rooms again. Changing seasons are exciting; plus, it’s a tried and true conversation starter.

Cold, Rainy, but Nice

I come from MN, so to me Beloit has perfect weather. Just a little bit warmer, but still comes with all of the rain, snow, lightning, and the possible tornado. I like the wide variety where one day it can be sunny and 70 degrees and the next day it could be 40 and drizzling. If you want an average, moderate, daily temperature, Beloit is not for you.

Snow, Snow, Snow, Cold , Cold, Cold.

It is really cold and when it snows it snows a lot. I'm from the Northeast and I don't find the winters to be that much worse than how they are back home.

Well, It's in WISCONSIN.

I grew up in Wisconsin, so I have no problem with the cold. That being said, if you're from California or New Mexico, you're going to be cold. August is usually hot and humid, September is usually pretty warm, but sometimes starts to cool down to sweater weather towards the end. October is a little cooler, definitely hoodie weather, and November starts to get cold. December is cold, but January and February are the worst. March is a little warmer, April warmer still, and May is usually beautiful. June is warm, and July is hot.

Snow can come any time between October and April. Usually it's on the ground constantly from December to February. Roads/paths are kept plowed and salted though and campus is pretty small, so it's really not too bad. It's actually kinda pretty the few days after it falls.

Don't let the weather scare you away. It's cold, but if kids from places like Senegal and Vietnam can survive, you can too.
