Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

While dorms at Bentley may be a little bigger than those at other schools, they are still dorms. You are still going to be dealing with noisy neighbors, communal bathrooms, and walking everywhere. But never fear, life will get easier once you move out of that situation. The University offers a variety of suites and apartments for upperclassmen, the main difference being that a suite has a fridge and microwave while an apartment has a full kitchen. The housing process can be a bit overwhelming, but you will always have a place to stay, even if it's not where you expected. For freshmen, Slade, Miller, and the Trees are the three dorms to choose from, each with a selection of single, double, triple, and quad rooms. For upperclassmen, there is a lot more variety in style and location of rooms. Most seniors chose to live in Collins or Falcone as they are centrally located, so good luck to any underclassmen trying for those. But the apartments on Lower are also good, if a bit of a walk to class. Those at North are amazing, but you have to consider the shuttle ride or driving to campus, which is a hassle for some.

The funiture was recently updated in several of the buildings, and while it is still somewhat drab, the University understands that things will probably be spilled on it anyway. The beds aren't all that comfortable, so it's highly suggested that you bring some sort of cushion topper, which will help. The kitchens, when you have them, are small but usable and definitely outweigh the costs of eating at the dining hall all four years. The close community of Bentley living can be alienating to someone living off campus because on-campus housing is the easiest place where friends and connections are made. So the choice to live on campus is made by the majority of students, which makes it easier to see your friends, and be distracted by them.

Living at Bentley

Housing is nice and everyone is pretty close to one another. It is very expensive, though and some dorms are much nicer than others.

Pretty nice

Slade Hall was just renovated so they now have environmentally-friendly bathrooms and new furniture and mattresses in the rooms. Trees hasn't gotten renovated yet but it's really not that bad. The rooms are a pretty good size too and you can gain a lot of space under your bed if you raise it. The walls are really thin though. If the people in the room next to you are watching tv then you can hear it through your walls and, if your room is completely quiet, you can hear them talking even though they're talking at a normal volume. Lots of people tend to walk through the hallways at all hours of the day unless you live in the far Trees (Maple, Oak, Spruce) then nobody comes through.
