Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The presence of Campus Police is hard to ignore, and generally, students like the idea of being safe and protected. If CP can help you out, they will. They usually want to help you get out of potential trouble first, but if you talk back you could end up receiving punishment intead. However, CP cracks down rather harshly on parking violations. Students usually end up with at least one ticket before graduation. The same level of strictness also applies to the Resident Advisors. They do nightly rounds through the buildings, and for the most part just enforce quiet hours. There are also room inspections once a semester to pick up things like fire hazards, drug paraphernalia, and underaged alcohol. They most often break up loud parties and catch people for smoking pot in their rooms.

The idea of campus strictness can be viewed from the classroom. The problems the campus has with students cheating on exams or copying papers has become an increasing concern to the administration. Their attempts to curb the problem include access for all professors to plagiarism software and newly created and enforced guidelines to convict a cheater. The crime is not to be taken lightly, as Bentley is constantly lauded in the media for having one of the first centers for business ethics in the country. The penalty for being caught cheating is almost as severe as being caught with an illicit drug—suspension and/or expulsion.

Campus Strictness

Our campus actually has real police on site, and RAs can be tough, but often, students know to party in senior dorms, and as long as your careful, you can usually get away with most. Punishments are terrible though, so if you're in the sophomore and even junior housing, you want to be careful about getting caught

Did You Know? Bentley has a group of students called the Bentley Judicial Board, which hears cases of student policy violations on three levels and determines appropriate punishments. This is overseen by a staff member and other members of the Bentley community.
