College Prowler Take

Bentley’s computer network is cutting-edge and very sophisticated. The state-of-the-art technology is visible no matter where you are on campus, which makes it hard to forget where all your tuition money goes. There is at least one computer in each classroom, and many are equipped with computer consoles for each student. The laptop requirement is not forgotten in the classroom. In fact, there are power and network ports for each individual student’s laptop in about half of the classrooms on campus. In the front of each classroom, there is a computer hooked up to a projector that allows for professors and students to showcase educational material, pull up a Web site, or run a PowerPoint demonstration on a large screen in front of the class. It’s no wonder why Bentley is one of the most connected campuses in the country.

The wireless network is all over campus. Within the network, there are many resources available to students. The “M: drive” is a resource that allows students to save files on a network drive that is accessible from any computer anywhere on campus as long as the student is logged in under their Bentley username and password. There is also the Bentley Virtual Lab, which allows students to access various programs that might be needed for use in a certain class. The use of Blackboard allows students and faculty to communicate and share class-related materials. One thing is for sure—every Bentley student, no matter what major, will graduate with an advanced knowledge of the latest computer software and networks that will place them above the rest of college graduates across the country.

The computer network is one of the best in the country. Every student is issued a laptop as part of the technology fee, gets an upgrade as a junior, and gets to keep this laptop upon graduation. The wireless network is fast and rarely ever lags. There is never downtime on the server during "regular" usage hours because service occurs in the early hours of the weekends.

I think Bentley has one of the best computer programs in the country. You can get wireless Internet from all areas of campus, including outside. You are given a computer as a freshman, and a brand new one as a junior, so there is no need to bring your own. The computer center is not really ever too crowded.

Bentley is regarded as one of the most wired campuses in the nation. Computer labs are usually somewhat busy, but I always find a computer. All students at Bentley are required to be in a mobile computing program, and everyone is provided a laptop for an annual fee.

Bentley gives each student a computer, and it's worth having instead of your own. The library is crowded at times. Computer service is very helpful.

One thing I can’t really complain about at Bentley is the computer network. Though the computer labs are sometimes kind of crowded, the network speed here is probably unlike any other campus. It’s a good thing I go to a school with lots of computer nerds!
