Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Bentley is an overall safe campus; there is little to fear when walking across campus at night. However, if there is one negative aspect about the security on campus, it is the fact that no matter where you are, you can’t avoid running into Campus Police (CP). With the exception of the usual weekend stupid drunken incident, students can walk around late at night without worry. CP doesn’t take the safety for granted though. They offer various self-defense workshops for students and provide ongoing training to the officers. Due to the lack of real crime on campus, it does leave the officers with a lot of free time. Some students facetiously wish there was more for the officers to do because of the number of parking tickets that students recieve. The overall attitude toward Campus Police is negative, which is unfortunate. But students know that in the event of an emergency, CP will be there in record time, ready to handle the situation, whether it’s an incident of vandalism, a fight, or a fire alarm set off by burnt popcorn.

Health Services is centrally located on campus, but they are only open normal business hours, which can be a pain if you get sick after 5 p.m. However, the staff is friendly and usually knowledgable. If they cannot help you, they will find you an escort to the hospital or recommend an area speicialist who may be able to help. CP also offers complementary rides to several emergency rooms and escorts to class if you happen to be on crutches.

Safety = Good , Health = Bad

Safety is not a concern for me which says how good it is. Health services sucks though. While they are very nice and relatively available they do not often know what they are talking about.

Safety/Security

I have never felt unsafe or in a dangerous situation. Bentley is a closed campus and is safe for the most part.
