Different

The school is an average school in regards to what they have going on on campus. Their academic programs are phenomenal, however. They have strong business ethics that they stick to and allow the students to experience all parts of business, which is something that one can't do at most other schools. The school is also very diverse. This is the most diverse area I have ever been in. It seems that the minorities overpower.

Some tips

Choose to go random with your roommate freshman year! Lots of people chose people they met at orientation but they quickly found out that their roommate wasn't who they thought they were and things turned sour.

Bentley sends out like 50 emails a day which can get annoying but they're about networking events, career events, and other opportunities to make the most out of your experience here.

Freshmen have to go to a few plenary sessions (info sessions) about alcohol (big one!!), rape, diversity, etc so be prepared for sitting in the auditorium bored out of your mind.

Don't be one of those people who have to get carried away by an ambulance within the first week of school for alcohol poisoning.

Facts

Traditions
  • Black United Body Fashion Show: Each Spring, the BUB fashion show showcases the hottest styles from local stores and boutiques. The music is kicking, and the models are flawless at this unique event.
  • Breakfast by Moonlight: On the night of the last day of classes each semester, BACCHUS organizes “Breakfast by Moonlight,” an event featuring faculty and administration serving students breakfast around midnight. The price is usually $.99 with a canned good and $1.99 without a canned good, since it is used as a fundraiser (the charity changes each year). It’s the only place you can catch the school president flipping pancakes alongside the vice president who is scrambling your eggs.
  • Business Bowl: An event for the true business student! Held each spring, students compete in teams of five on various real-world business models and cases. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors compete against each other, while seniors and graduate students go head to head. The teams have several hours to come up with the best solution to the business problems and then present their findings to a panel of judges. It is a highly recognized event in the local business community, and students are able to interact and network with business professionals, practitioners, and university administrators. Of course, cash prizes are awarded to the top teams in each class.
  • Greedy Bingo: This isn’t your grandma’s bingo! The entire campus literally packs the gym when Greedy Bingo is held once a semester. The prizes are extravagant and can be anything from a 50-inch plasma TV to courtside Celtics tickets to $500 cash to bicycles to fabulous gift certificates. Things can get intense if people are talking during the call, but usually is lightened as soon as “O-69” is called. Get there early to claim your card, and be ready to yell “Bingo!”
  • Halloween Dance: A fun, festive evening. Always the Friday before Halloween, everyone dresses up. Get there early if you want to actually be let in.
  • Midnight Madness: Just as the cold winter air is on its way out, Midnight Madness is there to welcome in the spring season. A night filled with games, food, and lots of competition, this event is primarily a chance for teams to go head to head to find out who the better tricycle or Big Wheels driver is. In order to participate, teams of about eight people are required, and the night is usually a big deal to athletes and fraternity members.
  • Monte Carlo Night : TKE puts on Monte Carlo night every Homecoming weekend. A chance for the ladies to wear that old prom dress one more time, this is an upscale, classy event. Alumni and parents are invited to attend and mingle with the fraternity brothers and other students while playing poker and bidding on high-end prizes. After going as a freshman, you realize it was a fun time, but freshmen generally don’t attend every year unless they’re in TKE or have parents that are alumni.
  • Spring Day: Get ready for a day filled with music, food, activities, and lots of beer, while every student on campus congregates on the Greenspace for Spring Day, the last Saturday before finals start at the end of the Spring semester. As long as you and your guests (bring your friends from other local colleges along!) have wristbands and keep your alcoholic beverage in a covered cup, you will not be in trouble for drinking underage. If the idea of getting drunk at 9 a.m. isn’t your thing, then enjoy the music (usually a totally rad ‘80s cover band), design your own trucker hat, or throw around a Frisbee. This is a guaranteed awesome time you won’t forget.
Urban Legends
  • Jay Leno went to Bentley! Well, he actually did for one semester, and then dropped out.
  • The original falcon statue in front of the library was stolen by Babson (our rival in business education) students because they were jealous of Bentley’s academic superiority.
