College Prowler Take

After constant complaints from the students over the lack of parking, two additional parking decks were built. However, many students feel the problem has not been alleviated and will only get worse as more people bring cars onto campus. Don’t try creating your own parking space because Campus Police will find your car and deliver a hefty fine for illegal parking. In fact, your chances of getting a parking ticket here are substantially greater than your chances of getting all As in one semester. People complain about getting tickets, but they often forget that parking is free—a rare feature in suburban colleges. The charge for parking privileges could be reality in the future, leaving students with more to complain about.

The types of cars on campus have a dramatic range, from your grandfather’s Oldsmobile to a Z (insert number here) BMW to a Hummer. The car you drive can be a symbol of your financial status if you want it to be; otherwise, everyone here is a college student, so if it has wheels and a motor and can get us from point A to point B, no one will care what car you own. If you choose not to have a car on campus, the shuttle can only get you so far, so you better start schmoozing with your key-toting buddies.

Parking on campus isn't bad. Sometimes you have to park away from your building, but nothing is more than a 10-minute walk. Freshmen aren't allowed to bring a car, but with the shuttle, it doesn't matter.

It is decently easy to find a parking spot, but more parking would be nice. As a freshman, you must have proof of employment in order to have a car on campus.

It’s very easy to park if you aren’t too particular about the location. The campus is small, so worst case scenario is that you will have a three- to four-minute walk to your dorm. If you are a commuter, however, the parking is fantastic, and there are lots of spaces close to the academic buildings.
