Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Bentley does provide several transportation options for students. The most popular services offered on campus are the free shuttles. The Loop Shuttle runs through campus, stopping at several places along the way including North Campus, in front of Rauch, and Fenway Apartments. The Harvard Shuttle is for Bentley students only, providing a direct link to get into Boston from campus via Harvard Square in Cambridge; the trip is about 25 minutes long. From there, you are able to access the MBTA subway and buses to all points around the city of Boston. Both run on a closely followed schedule, which makes it a fairly reliable way to get around campus or into the city. The Harvard Shuttle also runs loops to North Campus when the Loop Shuttle has stopped. On hours when the shuttle might not be running, taxis are an option.

Despite these great opportunities, it can still be a pain to not have a car on campus.  However, parking can be an issue and freshmen are prohibited from having cars on campus to prevent further overcrowding. For the unfamiliar driver, Boston can be a very complicated city to drive around, and street parking is fairly limited while garage parking is extremely expensive. But having a car affords an easier time living in an apartment where you have to buy your own groceries.

Buses Are Pretty Good

Bentley buses are pretty good, but they are not the best. They are sometimes late or they don't come at all. However, this is pretty much the only option to get off campus. So, you have to take it unless you have a car or want to take a taxi.

Transportation at Bentley

There is a free shuttle bus for Bentley students that goes to Harvard Square right by the T. After freshman year you can have a car and park for free.

Horrible!

Everyone says that the Bentley shuttle is really good so you don't need a car on campus but you definitely do!! The Bentley shuttle comes once every half an hour typically BUT if the shuttle is full then they won't let you on. The shuttle is like a typical charter bus and doesn't allow anybody to stand in the aisles. The bigger shuttle lets on ~60 people and the smaller shuttle lets on ~30 people and then you have to wait for the next one which happens EVERY time you try to take the shuttle on a weekend. DON'T take the shuttle if you have to meet up with someone because chances are that you have to wait about an hour to get on it. The Bentley shuttle stops in Waverly Square (pretty much nobody gets off there) and in Harvard Square. From Harvard Square you can take the T subway line to Boston but if you want to go somewhere that's a little far from the T lines then you're screwed. The closest bus is a 20min walk from campus so you have to take a taxi everywhere which you'll do a lot because Target and Shaws are popular destinations.
