Variety of Places – A lot of fastfood, sandwich/burrito places, pizza joints, and Asian food places right by campus. A few minutes away is Newbury Street, home to many trendy and more expensive restaurants and cafes. Also a few minutes away is Prudential Center, which has a food court offering fastfood, cafe food, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, pizza, a rotisserie, ice cream.

Lots of opportunity but very competitive. The Office of Financial Aid is a total pain in the *** to deal with and they are very unorganized. However, the Office of Scholarships is great.

Who Drives?! No one really drives except the staff.... I think there are maybe 3 parking lots that hold a total of like 60 cars. There is metered parking on the streets and a public parking lot behind one of the main buildings but expect to pay a pretty penny.

Guys & Girls:
The Ultimate Network – The dress code at Berklee is everything from hippie/rasta to well quite mode jazz musicians. The way people dress usually shows their attitude and the type of music they are pursuing. Berklee is big on "being, rather than seeming to be" and students demonstrate that. There is a 1 to 9 ratio of women to men, girls are usually scandalous or very on top of their "game". Because of the lack of availability there are not very many intimate relationships, however there is lots of sleeping around. As for platonic relationships, Berklee is a huge network of musicians and everyone knows everyone.

Taxi, subway, bus, and train are very helpful since everyone mostly takes them and they are pretty cheap! I love Boston.

My Berklee Student Night Life – I can only say that you will never get board at night when it comes to Berklee. There is twenty-four seven transportation, always live music at near by clubs and performance spots such as the House of Blues. There are restaurants that say open until two to three in the morning. At the Berklee Performance Center there is always a show to watch wether if it is by Berklee students or the main public there is always performances going on in Boston.

What Can I Say? As we all know Boston is considered on of the most expensive places to live in the United States. As much as my school does all that it can to make sure that all the students who apply have some where to stay, it is very expensive! In all the time I am in Boston I must say it is a safe place to live and the people there are fairly nice, it is quite expensive, and parking is hard to find. I remember my friend Kayo who lived in an apartment just down the street form our school. I liked the fact that it was in walking distance, but as we were getting on the elevator it was hard to ignore how old apartment an elevator she had to use that (she said) would get stuck sometimes. When we got in her apartment I was shocked to see the size of her apartment . Her whole apartment was the size of my room back at home. Her kitchen was so small that only one person could fit in it. Then I realize that there was a scent of marijuana coming form out side her apartment. As I came to find out it was her net door neighbor who was smoking for his medication ( for medical use it is ok to smoke marijuana in the state of Massachusetts). Then after a while it started to rain and by the time we had moved all of her stuff from by her windows, half of her apartment was flooded. The only good thing I found out about living off campus is that it is a lot cheaper than staying on-campus. Other than that I would not ever pay over a thousand dollars a month like my friend did when I benefit much more form living on-campus.

Focused Students Make Good Decisions – It's easy to stay away from the drug scene at school if you are a serious musician who wants to do well. Of course, like most other colleges, some students use drugs, and most students drink.

Music Nerds Heaven – Although Berklee College of Music does not have fancy gyms, pools or sport facilities like the other surrounding colleges do, they have great practice rooms where people can explore their instruments. The media center is fantastic as well. There are many places around campus where students can relax, interact, and enjoy themselves.

Health & Safety:
Safe During the Day, Not Too Safe at Night – Berklee College of Music is located in the heart of Boston -a truly beautiful and historic city. During the day, it is very friendly and safe, however, I have experienced situations in which I have felt unsafe walking back to my apartment from an evening class. A friend of mine got mugged at knifepoint one evening as well. I believe that as long as you walk around as if you have somewhere to be and are aware of your surroundings, then you will be safe.
Great College Experience! Berklee has something to offer for every type of music student. Everyone knows how to mesh with everyone else, even if it's a student/teacher relationship, or a relationship between two students with completely different majors. The teachers are very open to helping students to achieve their best. The academic advisors will help you to achieve you absolute best, while also letting you know what your limits might be, which actually opens a whole new set of doors for many students. This is the place to be if you want to succeed in any area of the music industry.

Because we live in the city, most students don't ever need to park. There are several parking garages a few blocks away, but they are pretty pricy. Most students just use public transportation, which is very cheap and easy to use.

Though I have not had a chance to eat in Berklee's cafeteria, I know that many students love going there for a quick lunch or dinner before hanging out and studying there for a bit. I know that the variety of food is great, and the cleanliness is superb. The dining options around campus are great: there is a Starbuck's, Dunkin' Donuts, and McDonalds right across the street, and many other great healthy fast food options are right around the block. You never have to eat the same thing two days in a row if you don't want to. You also can't complain about all the different food options around Boston.

My Hometown – I was born in St.Vincent and the Grenadines which is an island located in the Caribbean Territory. One of our many cultures that we celebrate is Vincy Mas and this is where people come out in their numbers to parade around town in colorful costumes made by the local people of St.Vincent.

Berklee Is Great – You get what you put into it. They have all the resources in the world to help you succeed, but if you go in with a bad work ethic and a closed mind, you will become another berklee dropout with no career in music. they really do teach you to be an employable musician.

At berklee, drinking is definitely more popular than using drugs. there is not really much peer pressure to do either though, and the campus is fairly strict about it.

Boston Is a Great Town! Berklee college of music is situated in the heart of Boston, so there is always something to do. Although a lot of the clubs are 21+, there are still some venues that will let you in at 18 or 16. there is plenty of live music all around, and a bunch is actually at the school.
