The campus is monitored by security guards at every door; this is an urban campus so the added security is not only necessary but effective. Campus security guards are very kind and laid back, many students have friendly relationships with the workers. Berklee students are very independent and the school tends to appeal towards older students. school policies are never truly complained about, the rules make sense and if you are a smart, mature individual there should be no problems. Academically, the school (like any college) holds it's students at a high level; however, because the workload is increased due to instrumental practice necessities, teachers are very understanding as long as you are upfront with any difficulties.

They have counseling, but there is not much they can do to prevent college students from taking drugs unless the students are willing to do so. On campus there is no alcohol or drug use allowed and that's about the extent of it.

There is absolutely NO greek life at Berklee. This is a music college!

It is difficult to find parking. Be sure to put enough money in the meter. You will be towed!

I come from a very small town so I think there is so much to do in Boston. There are many cultural events all year round.

People who do drugs then to hang with other people doing the same thing.

You get used to the campus food really quickly...but the convenience is great! It's a hot meal ready at any time during the day. It closes during the week around 7:30, which stinks, but it's a buffet-type set up so that's cool. There's always salads, sandwiches, and pizza available. :)

There are people from literally EVERYWHERE at Berklee! One of the best things about Berklee is the diversity. You've got people from Sweden; Paraguay; various places in the US including California (lots of people from Cali), New York, Georgia, Texas, Washington D.C., Washington State, Virginia, etc.; Spain; China; Japan; Korea; Russia, etc. !

Health & Safety:
There is a security office right in the front of every buildling and inside the 150 building it continues in front of the elevators. It's the safest dorm building to live in. Also, the food is pretty healthy. They have salads and fruits and vegan foods!

Guys & Girls:
This school is only 30% female. It is kind of a bummer if you were looking into dating during college.

There are no real athletics programs at Berklee, but you can partner with neighboring colleges to play on sports teams. They are adding a new building with a gym next semester.

There could definitely be more scholarship opportunities, but I there are opportunities for those who look hard enough. This school definitely makes you work for your scholarships. It's very competitive.

I had a generally easy time figuring out the financial aid process. My adviser at school is very nice and helpful, and I have received a generous amount of financial aid throughout the last two years. Advice? Fill out the FAFSA early, contact the financial aid office to have a meeting with your adviser so they can put a face to your name, and you're not just a number at the school.

School policies got a little bit more strict this year with everyone crazy that happened in Boston this year. And I'm happy they did, security at every entrance, and it's now a closed campus. It's hard to say what other policies are going on since I don't live on campus anymore, but I think they are doing a good job with whatever they're doing.

It was very fun and friendly on campus, as well as convenient. It was extremely close to class, even sometimes in the same building. The food was okay, and it's really expensive to live in the dorms, but had a great experience and it was a nice way to easy into living in a new place.

There is no system. It's in the heart of Boston, so public transportation is your best bet.

Not very strict. I mean, there are rules, but this is a music school, so there's goign to some allowneces
Recent Alumnus 2013-06-07T07:52:05Z
There is a good variety and lots of choices. Prcies are ok
Recent Alumnus 2013-06-07T07:49:57Z
Often full... but in my opinion, if you're there studying music, you need your own computer anyway.

Large white population. But world views etc are diverse

There is an Ultimate Frisbee team but if you are looking for a school with outstanding athletics then Berklee is NOT the place for you. Although you can tryout for varsity athletics in schools near by, the coaches will accept students from other schools.

There are a lot of Vegetarian and Gluten free options. The menu is very suitable for all diets and they change them frequently. But the availability of the caf is what I find to be frustrating. The salad bar and fruit/yogurt bar is always open but they don't always have actual meals outside of your standard meal times. Which could be a problem depending on peoples schedules and culture (international students out number American students). But the food around campus is great too! There are many varieties to choose from.
College Sophomore 2013-05-24T05:54:52Z
Everything is within walking distance. The campus is in the city! The T and Bus are five dollars round trip but they stop running after 12:35 AM so if you are taking a late night trip, a taxi or walk is the way to go. But Taxis tend to be expensive.
College Sophomore 2013-05-18T15:05:00Z
Berklee is very strict with who comes in and out of the campus; because of the amount of equipment housed in every building, as well as the cost of the equipment; Berklee is very cautious with keeping their investments safe. Guest passes are needed for non residents, as well as time limitations and locational limitations for the guests.

I came to Berklee, College of Music because it has an Electronic production and design program, the campus is amazing, and the professors I have had have been phenomenal. They are available to answer any and all questions and give you extra help with anything. The entire class itself loves talking about the courses and helping each other out; its so inspiring,
Sorry, there are no reviews.
