Once accepted to Berklee, I had to choose my major, which I will apply for in the upcoming semester. For this program, the Music Production and Engineering Major, I must submit a portfolio, attend an interview, and submit GPA. The teachers are looking for those students who are willing to go the extra mile, push harder, and come up with new ideas. The most important part of this process is the interview, where the faculty can really see who you are as a musician and as a person.

As a student living on campus at a Boston school, it is never an issue for me to get to classes. It does rain a bit, which can be a downer, but the real problem is for those who have to take public transportation, which can be off if it snows. If classes aren't canceled then, the student must miss that day and hopefully contact their teacher. Overall however, the campus weather is great and not negatively impacting my experience at all.

Although I have not yet declared my major (Berklee requires you to wait end of first semester or second semester to declare), I have enjoyed the majority of my classes and am constantly in awe of the doors that are being opened to me. I am so happy being around people who are innovative, hard-working, and individual. I plan on majoring in Music Production and Engineering, which unlocks a quantity of career paths, including producer, sound engineer, mixer, and other jobs. My job will be as grand as I make it -- I understand that the effort I put in directly relates to the outcome.

There is not a lot of danger concerning drugs at Berklee College of Music. Smoking pot is an honored past time for those who aren't focused. Say no, get to work, and you'll be fine.

It is nice to live on campus. There is a fantastic community at Berklee and being close to that is a big part of what Berklee is about. The dorms are clean yet very expenseive. The process is for the most part easy.

There are so many nationalities and social groups at Berklee it is hard to notice a specific emphasis on any particular group. As far as specifically Greek, I haven't seen that many things.

The computers are easy to get to and contain all of the software needed for your projects.

The T is best way to get around and it's fairly inexpensive. But, to get to and from class, the best way is to walk. it's not that far between the buildings.

During the winter, it cold. REALLY COLD. but during the spring, summer and early fall, it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! If you can stand the cold for a couple of months, then you would love the area.

We have many areas that allow the students to hold performances which is a great way to get involved in the campus community. We have practice rooms and ensemble rooms that allow the students to come together and jam in a safe environment. With the practice rooms in the same building as the dorms, it's easy for on campus students to find other musicians to jam with. All of the buildings are within a reasonable distance from each other which makes it easy to move from class to class.

Everyone who goes to Berklee is different on almost every level. There are all different types of personalities, races, ethnicities, economic backgrounds, political beliefs, religions and sexual orientations. There are people from all over the world, almost every country, and the students vary in their economic backgrounds. There are people who are very rich and people who are very poor but we all come together to learn music and everyone is very accepting of everyone else.

The housing is VERY expensive in Boston, especially if you live right near campus, like I do. If you live in surrounding areas, you'll have to take the T to get to the campus. It's best if you don't have a car because paying for parking is really expensive too. It's fairly simple to find a roommate because everyone is looking for one. It seems to be pretty safe. Everyone usually minds their own and keeps to themselves. The school has some resources to help you find a place to live in the surrounding areas.

Parking on campus can be a nightmare. Be sure to get to campus at least 30 minutes before your class to ensure you'll get a space and make it to class on time. As a freshman, you get the worst parking. there is no parking available, and it gets very expensive.

Student life at Berklee is horrible, no one talks to each other or gets along. no social event, very independent. Very Lonely.

Health & Safety:
I never have felt unsafe on campus or while in class, but I will say that this past semester there were many reports of robberies near the school. These mostly occur for students living off campus heading home. Best idea is to just be aware of when you are walking alone.

The campus isn't too big, distance from parking is not a problem.

Have not had an internship yet but am looking forward to future opportunities. I have heard there are numerous, decent opportunities to take advantage of.

Berklee does not have any athletic teams though nearby colleges allow students to participate on their teams.
College Sophomore 2012-12-13T05:16:14Z
some drug use but Berklee is a very intense, expensive school and most of the students are very focused on their education.

freshman are required to purchase a new Mac which is then pre-loaded with all the programs you'll need. Technical help, tutoring, and wi-fi are abundantly available.

The computers are some of the best and up to date. Every student receives a macbook as a part of tuition.
