The restaurants that are around Bethel are the same as you would find in any other city. They are the same fast food restaurants that you can go to just about anywhere. The cost isn't terrible. Since the restaurants are fast food, they have dollar menus and other cheap items. The only way that anything is convenient in this town is if you have a car. There are no student discounts at any of the restaurants.

The closest place a college student can go is to Wichita. That is a, at least, 30 minute drive. In town, there is a movie theater, but it always seems packed because that is one of the main attractions to do. Another big BC thing to do is go to half price apps at Applebees. If a college student is bored, they might find themselves wandering around Walmart for several hours spending money on things they probably don't need.

Health & Safety:
The safety on campus is relatively high. The crime rate of the school is nonexistent. We do not have any problems at our school with the fear of others' safety. I believe that Student Life is doing everything in their power to try to keep our campus safe and make sure the students' safety is secure. I feel relatively safe on campus. I feel safer when other people are walking with me and when I don't have to walk around campus at night but other than that I have no complaints.

I have had a car at school since my freshman year. You are required to register your vehicle with the school but there are no permit costs. Availability of parking spaces has never been a problem.

Guys & Girls:
There is quite a bit of diversity among guys and girls on campus. I myself have friends on both sides of the spectrum, in both sexes. Girls that are gorgeous, athletic, and smart, and then there are those who are extremely geeky, same with the guys. But all in all it's a fun crowd and I find the people around here are for the most part very caring and interesting.

It's Kansas so weather can go from 100 degrees with 100% humidity and blazing sun, to low 80's with massive thunderstorms in a split second. Students are used to the extreme weather changes and the campus is well equipped to deal with the temperamental Kansas weather.

While there are places to go in Newton, the attraction wears off fairly fast. There are a few locations where students are regular patrons, and we do have good shopping access. But the cultural, sports/recreation, and positive attitudes towards students aspects are severely lacking.

There is practically no nightlife at Bethel. A few places in Newton. If you want nightlife, have to go to Wichita.

If you are not into the party scene, you are very often left out. This would be the time to instate that close friends in small groups who share your values is the best and by all means encouraged. I say a B because people are independent, but you are not very accepted if your values stray from that scene, so you need to be confident in yourself. The SAC plans fun.. non "partying" activities alot of times that students do get invovled in, and when they do, it's a great time!
College Junior 2013-05-24T00:44:32Z
I say a B+ because we have a great SAC, but people are pretty flaky in attendance and commitment. Our small campus has a lot to offer and a lot of interests and creativity, but Alot of people are more concerned about partying, so for those who don't settle into that scene feel really left out. However, there are advantages to having that great SAC, who try their hardest to plan fun creative activities. Way to go! I can't wait to live on campus to participate in those more.

This is Kansas. The weather, like many other places, has a mind of it's own. But campus is small enough that 11 inches of snow didn't stop us from having classes. So, it doesn't really change plans a whole lot. when it does, it's a BIG deal.

The Campus is gorgeous, and there are plenty of new remodeled buildings to be proud of. The older buildings, while historic with amazing histories, could use some new touching up and remodeling for appeal. But the campus is GREAT!

Campus strictness has definitely improved, but it still needs a lot of work. It use to be that certain violations were instantly fined without any chance for the student to defend themselves. Now instead of instant fines the student meets with the VP for Student Life and punishment is assigned that fits the crime. At the same time the new policy, for lack of a better word, about RA walks has made many students feel like Student Life is intruding on their privacy and they feel like they are not being treated like responsible adults.

Bethel's focus on service opportunities has provided me with numerous chances to expand my horizons and make connections vital to my future. Every year there is a service day where the whole campus spends the day doing service projects for the school and community, and there are plans to increase service projects in the community. Also the emphasis on Christian faith is very important to me because it illustrates how important things like honesty, service, caring, and integrity are to the institution.

Bethel College has made some significant steps toward improving student life on campus. In the past few years there has been in increase in club participation, Resident Life funding, and just overall appearance of the college. SAC has sponsored many events and is constantly striving to give students many diverse options for activities. Bethel has also recently remodeled the Academic Center and is working towards more upgrades to campus facilities.

I commuted from a city 30 minutes down South because it was cost efficient.

Finding a parking spot at Bethel College is easy. There is always an open spot all throughout the day.
