College Prowler Take
Campus dining is not a major plus at Binghamton, but it is not a major minus, either. Dining hall food is just simply there, and the choices at the Union Food Court are only slightly better. Most students prefer the convenience of Binghamton’s á la carte system over a fixed number of meals per semester, especially since any money not used can carry over from semester to semester. Despite what students describe as poor overall quality, there are some places to get a decent meal. The Chenango and Susquehanna Rooms are nice alternatives to the dining halls, albeit at a steeper price. The Nite Owl Café is a good option for those late-night cravings. Credit Binghamton with continually looking to improve their variety—a vegan option, an ice cream bar, a sushi bar, and various theme nights are all recent additions to the menu.

When you first come here freshman...
When you first come here freshman year, the dining halls are not bad at all, because there is so much variety, but it goes downhill real fast. You go through a point where all you eat are turkey wraps and salad. Then you discover the mini mall, which is better for all of four meals, and you are back to figuring out how it is that you can smuggle a stove into your suite and not get caught. But, there are plenty of people who found enough to put on the Freshman 15. Don’t worry, you’ll get by. |

Okay, to be honest, I don’t mind the food. I can guarantee that it will not be like your mother’s or father’s cooking, but you can’t expect it to be. There are other spots to eat for slightly more expensive prices. The Nite Owl is open from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., and there is one located in every area except Dickinson; they open after the dining halls close. You can eat in the Susquehanna Room, which is where most of the faculty and professors will eat. The Chenango room is nice; it’s open for very limited hours—just for lunch and breakfast—but it’s nice for a change of pace because a waiter comes to your table and takes your order like in a restaurant. |

The food is disgusting and is rumored to contain laxatives to make sure we don’t get food poisoning. The only nice place is a hidden spot called the Chenango Room, located in the Science I building, which few students know about. |

The food is not great, but some...
The food is not great, but some things are actually really good. The sandwiches are pretty safe, and if you eat in the Hinman Dining Hall on days when they have quesadillas, you’ll be very satisfied because those are awesome. Basically, the dining halls have everything. Hinman is where I ate the most because that’s where I lived. Each community has a dining hall where you can get sandwiches, burgers, chicken patties, and fries. |

The best dining hall so far is CIW, although the new Hinman Hall is pretty good, too. Chenango Room is nice for a more expensive lunch, and the Susquehanna Room is overrated. The Union is alright but really expensive. |
