College Prowler Take
While Binghamton may not boast any world-class restaurants, it does have a few hidden gems, some trendy cafés, and just about every conceivable chain in existence. There is an abundance of cheap Italian food, and many places stay open late for eat-in or delivery. Getting to most of these places without a car may prove difficult, but most students are more than willing to venture off campus to escape the tedium of the dining halls. Decent food at a cheap price is the hallmark of Binghamton eateries, the perfect combination for college students. There are also a handful of more upscale restaurants for when the parents come to visit, but be warned that many places will raise prices during major events like Parent’s Weekend and graduation.

A bunch of the restaurants off campus are the same ones that you will find at home. Some you can afford, some you can’t, and some you just wouldn’t want to. Think of any fast food place, and chances are we have it on Vestal Parkway. |

There isn’t anything great to say...
There isn’t anything great to say about restaurants off campus only because they are similar to ones in other cities—McDonald’s, Burger King, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and so forth. However, there are high-class restaurants that are very nice, but very pricey. These include Number 5, Chestnut Inn, and a few others. |

Off campus is all right. There are...
Off campus is all right. There are lots of your usual fast food places and some restaurants. Getting to many of them without a car is a pain, though. I personally recommend a place called Consol’s; it has good, cheap Italian food. |

There are some really cool places...
There are some really cool places off campus in downtown Binghamton, such as the Lost Dog Café and the Whole in the Wall—they are trendy places that offer a lot of vegetarian dishes, and they remind you of Greenwich Village in New York City to some extent. Other than that, there are the typical chain restaurants lined up along Vestal Parkway. |

I don’t know, I’m too broke, but Kennedy Fried Chicken and Denny’s are really good late-night places. |
