Tips to Succeed

Don’t take 8:30 a.m. classes

Traditions

Caribbean Festival - This annual festival attracts visitors and performers from all over the country, as they come together to celebrate Caribbean pride.
Purim Carnival - The annual Purim Carnival offers great games, rides, costume contests, and of course, delicious food.
Spring Fling - The annual celebration of the return of warm weather, even though it often continues to snow after the event has passed. There is a carnival atmosphere with live music, and everyone comes out to enjoy the fun. There is also a concert by a popular musician—50 Cent last year, Nickelback the year before.
Stepping on the Coat - This takes place during Spring Fling and signals the start of warm weather. A student takes off their coat and ceremoniously steps on it, extinguishing the cold weather once and for all.

School Spirit

Binghamton does not have a lot of school spirit. There is more respect for the sports teams because the school is Division I now, but without a football team, the spirit will only grow so much. However, the campus really blossoms during the spring. When the snow melts and sun comes out from hibernation, everyone’s spirits pick up, and students start feeling better about their school. And, of course, the seniors are all brimming with school spirit, especially during Spring Fling.
