College Prowler Take
Students have high praise for the Binghamton University bus services because of the routine service, extensive routes, and (best of all) the fact that they’re free. And while some point out that bus service does not run 24 hours, cabs take over as a quick and affordable way of getting around town at night. Getting around town is easy thanks to public transportation, and getting out of town is often simple as well. Greyhound runs frequent bus schedules out of downtown Binghamton, ESCAPE is a cheap and convenient way to get home for the holiday breaks, and it is only a matter of time before you meet someone who has a car and can drive you to where you need to go. Getting around or getting out, transportation in Binghamton is a breeze.

Usually, if you live on campus, you’ll mainly only have to leave to go shopping or partying. There are many buses that go to Town Square Mall, a shopping center with a huge Wal-Mart. Unless you’re against shopping at Wal-Mart, you’ll probably live there, because it's a 24-hour super center with anything you could possibly need. As for going out, most people take cabs to go party during the weekend. With a group of people, it’s like $3 per person. For other things, prices can vary. There’s also a small airport and Greyhound bus station. |

Blue buses are easier than they seem, and the cabs are only two bucks when you have more than two people. Very convenient. |

Transportation is actually pretty good. For the most part, the buses are on time, and they are free. There are buses that go to the mall, Wal-Mart, and other convenient places all the time. Even those that live off campus can fare pretty well using the buses. |

Buses are always running in front of the University Union. There are two lines—the campus line, which is reliable, and the city line, which isn’t as good. |

If you don’t have a car, by your sophomore year you’ll definitely know people who do. Cabs are around, but if you’re by yourself, they can get expensive. All buses are free with a Binghamton University ID. |
