“Depressing,” “weird,” “horrible,” and “crazy” are some of the words students use to describe the Binghamton weather—these are the words we’re allowed to print, anyway. At Binghamton, you will be sure to get a taste of every season, sometimes all in the same day. Yes, it is cold and cloudy; winter is long, and it tends to rain and snow a lot. But the snow can make for some fun activities, and many students point out that when the weather gets nice, and it gets really nice, the students appreciate it even more. The weather is not the greatest attraction anywhere in upstate New York. At least the crazy conditions bring people together during the long winter months and make the nice days seem all the more sweet. Still, if you hate cold weather and need to see the sun at least once or twice a week, you might be very unhappy at Binghamton. Students Speak Out

Always Gloomy

The weather at Binghamton is horrible. During the first month of Fall semester and last months of Spring semester the weather is beautiful; it's sunny, warm and everyone is outside enjoying it. But any time between that, the weather is cold, windy, gloomy and there is NO sun! Also, it ALWAYS snows! Literally everyday during December-February it will snow, whether it's sleet, big snow storms or jst small flakes-it WILL snow!

It always rains... always. My advice: buy rain boots and a long winter coat, they will be the best investments you make in college. The first day of Spring is always the highlight of the entire year when everyone lays outside on the nice green grass.

It is cold and rainy in Binghamton for the majority of the year, and during the time of year when other parts of the state experience spring, do not be surprised if Binghamton doesn’t, because chances are we won’t. |

In a word, the weather sucks. It’s very depressing. Winters are very cold, and it gets very windy. There’s not a lot of sun and quite a lot of rain. It bothers me, but some people really couldn’t care less. |
