Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!

Campus Dining at Biola University

Hit or Miss

The Biola Caf' is the main dinning option for on campus residents. While the food quality is exceptional the dishes may not be. I mean that the Biola Caf' always prepares food in a clean environment some of the dishes are not to my liking. However the Biola Caf' does a great job in providing different options to the students, for example, we have a salad bar with fresh greens, a gluten free station, and every other food station has a unique style of cooking. One station called 6th Street Grill serves grilled food such as melts and burgers. While another station called Home Cooking prepares food you would find in the home. However, after two years of the Caf' food, I want to move on from the repetitiveness.

Nightlife at Biola University

Revise Your Definition of Nightlife

Biola does not support drinking at all, even if you are 21. In your application process to Biola you have to sign a contract that you will not partake in smoking, drinking, or sexual relations while on or off campus. So if this is the kind of nightlife you are looking for look somewhere else. I will say this however, if you choose to stay here over the summer the Biola contract nullified and you can drink or smoke. Biola is located between Los Angeles and Orange County so nearly everything is open to what your particular tastes are. In Lou of this, Biola does offer some contract appropriate events that can range from live music and lip singing competitions, to sports rallies and whole floor blind dates.

Campus Housing at Biola University

Upperclassmen Get the Cut

The Biola Housing process, while they try their hardest to be fair it ends up cutting most of the upperclassmen out of the on campus community. Biola gives priority to incoming freshmen and sophomores but the problem is that there is too few housing places to keep all of the upperclassmen who want to live on campus, on campus. So the upperclassmen who get the cut end up scrambling within the last month of school to find people to live with and a place in which to live. While my time in the dorms were some of the most fun experiences of my life, my time as an upperclassman has left a bitter outlook on the Biola housing process.
