College Prowler Take
Although the school is religiously affiliated, the campus is not at all uptight or overly strict. There are certain rules and requirements that students may find unfair or unreasonable, but most of them are academics-oriented. Very rarely do the students’ complains have anything to do with their freedom to party and to do as they wish. The Campus Police are really there to protect the students, not hunt them down and bust them for perhaps having a little more fun than they need to. Students who do drink and abide by the rules may never get a second glance from security, but those who make fools of themselves and aren’t particularly careful may find themselves getting into trouble. As long as you keep it in your dorm room or abide by the ‘opaque container’ rule, you can party as much as you like.
Security treats BSC students as though they are responsible and mature, and so long as they act that way, there won’t be any problems. Most parties go on without a hitch, so the Campus Police don’t have much to regulate anyways. They may make a casual appearance from time to time, but they rarely make a scene or catch students in the act. If you want to see strictness, however, all you have to do is take a trip to the other side of town to Samford University, which is a dry campus and notorious for their strict policies.

Campus tends to be pretty strict. You can drink on campus, but you have to be of age according to the rules. Of course, they’re pretty lenient at parties, from what I hear. As far as drugs, I know they are extremely strict, and those who get caught have very little chance of staying at BSC, depending on the nature of the drug offense. |

The Campus Police are strict about keeping the campus secure and keeping a close eye on the guests coming into campus. As far as drinking goes, however, if you abide by the rules and aren’t making a ruckus, then they’re not likely to bust you for anything. |

Campus Police are not very strict about drinking. As long as you keep your drink in an opaque container that is not a bottle or can, you will most likely not get in any trouble. You do have to be careful if you’re underage and you’re walking around campus completely wasted. If you do get into trouble, Campus Police have the authority to take you to jail, because they are a part of the Birmingham Police Department. This rarely happens, however. |

They love to give parking tickets, but they are pretty fair when it comes to drinking and partying. |

If you’re drinking out of an alcohol can or bottle, you can get in trouble, but if you’re drinking out of an opaque cup, there’s an unwritten rule that you’re safe. If you get caught with drugs, you will get in a lot of trouble, but the Campus Police aren’t looking to bust people. If you are stupid enough or drunk enough to get an alcohol violation by the Campus Police, then you deserve it, because they don’t seek the students out. However, the resident advisors will seek you out, so they are the ones you need to watch out for if you want to avoid trouble. |
FactsWhat Are You Most Likely to Get Caught Doing on Campus?
- Riding illegally in the back of a pick-up truck
- Having candles and incense sticks in your dorm
- Making too much noise in your dorm
- Downloading copyrighted materials
- Plagiarizing or cheating
- Drinking underage
- Parking illegally
