Online Courses

I don't have any experience with online courses at Bismarck State.

Small Size

Campus is small, yet has everything you need close by, on campus. Allows you to develope close friends and not have long campus walks to get somewhere.

Atmosphere

There is an atmosphere that encourages people and instructors to treat you with respect. Getting a college education but not feeling like you are at a stuffy college.

Staff

This school has the best teachers I have ever had. A lot of the teachers are master's in their profession and have worked in clinical settings and can give real life stories to help enhance their teaching. I would highly recommend this college to anyone that wants to save money their first years and get a good education at the same time.

Limited Face to Face

I have no face to face with my peers because I am 100% online but there is a good bit of interaction on the conversation boards during the classes.

Some Glitches

Overall the courses and online campus are good. Some of the instructors are less engaged than others. The online campus occaisonally have glitches that can be a major pain. Not all the courses for the availible programs are availible online.

Online Courses

Overall the online format is good and supports a flexible schedule but there have been glitches with the online campus occaissonally creating problems. Request for support in more difficult course work like higher math is filled by an online tutoring service that is not that great. The advisor did not provide much assistance with identifying additional help to support passing the higher math so I had to work it out on my own.

Some of the courses are only offered in the spring or fall which wil put you behind a year if you can't enroll for some particular reason while you wait for it to come back up.

The school only accepts what seems like a bare minimum of transfer credits. I came in with 90 credits from an accredited school and they only granted transfer of 9 for the basic freshman level and another 6 for electives. I had to retake Eng. 110 and 120.

The energy programs have a premium cost over the routine per credit hour cost of the tradtional programs. The only way to avoid it s to join and outside energy organization or your company has o be a member of the outside organization. This is not clearly communicated at the begining.

Athletic Centers Are Average

The quality of the centers is probably a B. But the centers operating hours i would give a D at best. They arent open on the weekends at all. During the week they are always open and running which is very nice.

Flexibility of Classes

All of the professors I have are very flexible with the classes. If you can't make it to your scheduled section, they encourage you to drop in on another section of the class so you don't miss out.

Subject matter in most classes changes to remain relevant in the real world.

Good

the online courses are good, the only problem is if your internet goes out, or sometimes things dont go through.

Ok

some classes are offered many times, but a few have not been great times which ive had to change things around.

Ok

The classes are small and the teachers are nice, but I'm not super involved in my school, and I don't know of many clubs.

Study Areas

wide range of study areas that are common in our area.

End Wise

The knowledge you attain from here is extremely here is very benefitial for anything that you want to pursue in life. The fee you have to pay is also pretty in-expensive compaired to some, but many people don't try to reach out to you about job opportunities and they try to throw these job fairs, but those are usually just a joke

Meh

They school is pretty good about finacial aid, but they don't really help find to many people that are looking for jobs in the field you are going in to

Not So Bad

Not that terrible of a school, most people are willing to help out with stuff and teachers aren't so bad. It was a lot cheaper as well

Students

There is a range of different types of students in my school, though most are white. the good thing is, many of the students are nice.

Comp Network

The student center can be a little confusing on how to find certain things, and you have to log on under teacher email or it makes it impossible to open it normally.

Good

I like the fact that my school has a small number of students in each class, it gives the teachers more time to work one on one with students.
