Tuition & Financial Aid:
The main reason I chose to go to Black Hawk was the tuition. It is extremely affordable when compared to a four-year institution. However, I did not receive any financial aid at all.

Most of my teachers have been great. They are very personable and will help students one on one. My workload has not been too terribly hard, but still enough to challenge me.

The facilities on campus aren't bad. There's a gym and a brand-new auditorium for theatre performances and other events. Even though it's not a campus students live on, it's definitely a comfortable campus to hang out at between classes, whether you're getting coffee at the student union or catching up on some reading at the library

After I graduated, I had trouble finding a job in my field. So naturally, I went to the Career Center for help, as it should still be an asset to me post-graduation. However, I was disappointed. I felt like a number, like I was swept under the rug after commencement. It's as if the school's sole focus is to find new fresh and happy faces for their prospective pamphlets.

Mostly, my school consists of working-class people or families. They often juggle many different roles in addition to being students. While they are happy to socialize and make friends, this is not a priority. They are getting an education so they can seek a different life or career.

Computers can fill up pretty quickly around campus if you pick a busy time of the day, usually from 10 to about 1 or 2. Printing is free in certain areas of the school which is extremely helpful. The internet connection is not the most reliable however, if you are on your laptop or another wireless device. The only computer labs that are truly known by the public are the library and the testing center. If you want to find another computer lab to work in, you can look at the schedules outside of some of the classrooms, but it is not guaranteed you will be able to get in or find an available. What makes up for this is that they have tutoring areas with computers besides the main tutoring center in the science building.

There is a large amount of diversity at my school. There are young students who are fresh out of high school, and there are adults returning to school with families and jobs. We have a smaller group of international students, and our ethnic diversity is incredible. The economic status of most of the students is in the middle to lower class because of how affordable the college is. To finish off, religious diversity is very present as well.

I am planning to transfer to a four year college because this is technically a two year school. The first stop center is very helpful because they can connect you with a counselor to make sure you are on track with your courses and can get you more information about other schools. Also, they hold Passport to Leadership workshops, mock interviews, and make every effort to make their students aware of the opportunities available.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The financial aid process can be a bit confusing. I was confused about when I had to come in and when only an e-mail was necessary. Also the refund process can be a bit confusing unless you check up on it routinely. I did get a loan and scholarships so this made my college process easier. I am very thankful to the school for all the hard work they put into making it easier for me. I realized though that you need to stay in contact as much as you can so you are aware of where your money is going and when you need to pay.

I don't think there is any major unique things at Black Hawk.
College Senior 2013-10-06T20:00:33Z
The gym and pool are small.
College Senior 2013-10-06T19:59:13Z
It is a community college and there a lot of students who just don't care about there grades.
College Senior 2013-10-06T19:57:55Z
The computers are fast and up to date. I wish there were more computers for students to use.

There's a range of people that go to Black Hawk, i would have to say that most of student body are people that take a year or two of from high school and then go to college. Though it is still easy to make really good friends, everyone helps around the school.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The education is very well spent, the teachers make sure that this school is worth coming too. It did take a long time to know if I was approved of financial aid, but they did eventually contacted me saying I did. They did make it really easy to pay for the tuition though, and I really liked that since I don't leave near the school at all!!! I do wish they had a way though, that I don't have to drive down to the school, to do forms.

The main reason why i have chosen this school because of how they want us to lot of hands on and the reason why they did internships the last 8 weeks in our fourth semester. I also like how they have transferable classes if i were to ever transfer.
College Junior 2013-10-04T19:44:16Z
I'm a Equine Studies Major. My classes are little easier than I would have thought. All of my classes, is preparing me for my internship for the last eight weeks of the fourth semester. The electives do not interrupt my time for class studies.

I liked how the school wants everyone to get involved in to organizatoins. They always have opportunities to the students to get involved in some sort of way. Also with Black Hawk College, it requires a lot of hands on sistuations for the future plan of the students. I do, criticizes that they are hard to reach over phone and email. They also make it hard to find information about them on their website.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The process was fairly simple and easy to complete. I actually was late for sign up but they were quick and still got everything completed on time and in order for the start of the semester.

One of the many reasons I chose this school is that it is located near me. I attend the East Campus and live just a few miles away. The college also makes me as a returning to school mother feel welcome and accepted.

There is quite a bit of diversity at Black Hawk. I have seen and met students of all different races, sexual orientations, and religions. I have also met many students with different majors and interests. It is great to be around so many types of people. Everybody is very accepting and kind to each other. There isn't much drama and everyone seems to get along.
College Junior 2013-09-16T00:22:12Z
Though it is a community college, there are still many ways to feel like you are getting the "full college experience". There are many clubs and organizations students can join. There are always events going on in the Hawk's Nest, where everybody hangs out. A lot of times at events there is free food!

So far my professors and classes have been great. They are always available to email if you need help. You can also go in and talk with them during their office hours.
College Junior 2013-09-16T00:16:05Z
The computers at school are great. There is an entire room downstairs for students to use computers. I have to take my math test in the computerized testing area, and the computers always work great. Students can print in the library for a small fee, and there is also free printing downstairs.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
