To say the least, William & Mary students have a
strong affection for their school. They love the sense of history, the size, the faculty, and their fellow students. But there are some things to look out for.
Nightlife: 'Williamsburg has a tendency to
completely die out around nine o'clock. With no other universities closer than 45 minutes, you're really on your own to find a fun time until 2 a.m.'
Freshman Dorms: '
Avoid Botetourt freshman year and Dillard every year after that. About half the dorms have A/C, that's all that matters when choosing a room.'
The Ladies and Gentlemen: 'Guys, girls . . . they're people like anybody else. People joke about 'William & Mary goggles,' but you'd be surprised how
many good-looking people come out of nowhere when the sun comes out.'
Sports: 'William & Mary's
athletics aren't the highlight of the school. So if you love going to crazy football games with diehard fans, go to Virginia Tech or UVA.'
Parking: 'You
pay too much for spots that don't exist.'
Visiting the school won't tell you these things:
- Get your doctor to write you a note saying you have allergies so you can get permission for a window air conditioning unit?it's a lifesaver.
- Don't declare your major before you have to.
- Bring half as much stuff with you as you think you'll need.
- Get a laptop computer, not a desktop.
- Don't walk on the brick walkways in the dark until you're absolutely certain you know where all the holes are.
