'Outdoorsy' is the best way to describe the CC image. The 'granola' crowd always makes itself seen with patched corduroy pants and dreadlocks. The Birkenstock and tie-dye image doesn't hold true for all students, but it would certainly seem to be the average. The guys seem to have taken a t-shirt and jeans pledge for most of the fall and all of the spring, while the girls take advantage of sunny days to sport tank tops. During the winter, Columbia fleece jackets and wool beanies are in vogue.
At first glance, students seem to place almost no importance on fashion, but on closer examination their brand-name jeans and their oh-so-slightly tussled hair give them away as an upscale crowd.
What you see isn't always what you get when it comes to a college's image.
College Prower's got your back when it comes to the real deal on Colorado College! A campus brochure can't compare to what the students have to say.
The College Prowler guidebook can give you the inside scoop on everything you need to know about CC . . . for example, what would you do if someone asked if you wanted to go to the Nasty Rasty? You need to be prepared for these kinds of questions! (No worries, it's only the cafeteria!)
What else do you need to know about CC?
Want to take only one class at a time?
Colorado College is one of only two colleges in the United States to utilize the Block Plan. On the Block Plan, students take only one class at a time for three and a half weeks. In between blocks, students have four-day vacation periods called block breaks. The school believes that the Block Plan allows students to immerse themselves in a subject rather than having to spread effort and brain space over four or five different classes at the same time.
Want to know what it's like to be the opposite sex?
Once a year, the men at CC become gorgeous women, and the women become hunky men. The Drag Ball lets it all hang out as students compete, runway style, for prizes. Professional drag queens set the bar high, and the students enthusiastically respond to the challenge of switching genders?or at least clothes?for a night.
Here's the Best:- Block breaks
- The intelligent, caring professors
- 300 days of sunshine a year
Here's the Worst:- Lack of diversity
- Lack of strong athletic programs
- Gossip in the small student body

While writing our series of college guides, we felt it was critical that our content was unbiased and unaffiliated with any college or university. By hiring current students as authors, we strive to create college guides that truly represent each campus. Our guides cover both the good and the bad, and whether survey responses point to recurring trends or varying opinions, these sentiments are directly and proportionally expressed through our guides.
From the very beginning, student writers gather the most up-to-date stats, facts, and inside information on their colleges. They fill each section with student quotes and summarize the findings in editorial reviews. In addition, each school receives a collection of letter grades (A through F) that reflect student opinion. Once a guide is written, additional college students serve as editors and check for accuracy even more extensively. This same process is applied to all of the 258 colleges and universities College Prowler currently covers. Each guide is the result of endless student contributions, hundreds of pages of research and writing, and countless hours of hard work. All of this has led to the creation of a student information network that stretches across the nation. It’s no easy accomplishment, but it’s the reason that our guides are such a great resource.
