It has been a good experience. My school is unique in its work/school program

It stinks to commute to school in the snow

We do not have campus dining

Boston is a college town. Due to that apartments are very expensive, low quality, and the ones that are near the school are impossible for a student to afford. Roomates are a necessity, not only to help pay for the apartment but to stay safe when walking around town by the use of the "buddy system". Boston has a high crime rate, there are areas that are safer than others, but overall, especially for a woman, it is not wise to walk alone.

The computers at Boston Architectural College are easy to use, set up to easily print out documents, and contain just about every computer program an architect student would need. I give the rating a B- because of the limited amount of computers available and the restricted times a student can use them. If there is a class going on and sometimes there are classes back to back, a computer is hard to find.

Health & Safety:
The BAC has multiple campus locations that are all located close together in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston. Each campus building has a security guard by the front door and it is in a fairly safe neighborhood.
College Sophomore 2013-02-22T00:42:39Z
Parking in Boston is in general very difficult. Due to the location of the BAC it is a really tough task to find parking in a timely manner. However, for the ones willing to spend a lot of money, there are always the parking garage across from school.
College Sophomore 2013-02-22T00:40:57Z
The architecture program at the BAC works really well due to the ability to network with real firms and real professionals out there. There are a lot of exposing ourselves to these people since our professors are actually professional workers.
College Sophomore 2013-02-22T00:36:53Z
The concurrent program at the BAC works better in theory than in practice. The faculty does not explain well how the practice credits count down really works and the students will only find out that these practice credits have nothing to do with REAL practice hours for the architecture license (example: IDP hours) when they are already in too deep into the program.

I wish the BAC would focus on student life outside class more. The school should facilitate the ability to do school work IN school since there is no campus or housing campus. A good way to do that would be open studio spaces 24/7.
The BAC's work is mostly done OUTSIDE of class, thus the school should be able to facilitate the outside work being done in school as most architecture schools.

Being able to manage your time is essential for this school. Loads of work are given out, especially for our studio classes. They are often to build models, or to draw plans, which can take several hours to perfect.

There are several people from other states and countries who have come to this college.

Guys & Girls:
There are several international students and also students around the neighborhood. They are all very talkative and willing to share their ideas with one another.

There's no cafeteria in the school where we can actually go and buy a lunch from. However, the school is situated in one of Boston's most popular streets, Newbury street. It is crowded with varieties of restaurants that are just a walking distance away.

There's one floor where all the computer labs are. Sometimes there are classes going on, so the labs become minimal. Also, there is only one scanner for larger scans, thus one will need to wait one after another before using the scanner. This can become very destructive, as during final projects, many students use the scanners.

Health & Safety:
Mostly Safe – Fairly safe, very little crime in the area or the school except for the occasional theft.
Recent Alumnus 2011-06-28T21:38:46Z
Minimal Options – There are only select computer labs with the programs like Photoshop and AutoCAD at the Boston Architectural College. Sometimes they need them for classes, so the times you can use them are very minimal.
Recent Alumnus 2011-06-28T21:31:17Z
Not Enough Credit – The amount of credits a student can handle is very minimal (usually around 9) because the work load is an insane amount to do in one week. The professors are working professionals as well, so they don't seem to be as engaged (some are though) as they could be. Because of the minimal amount of credits I have been able to take throughout the two years I've been there, if I try to transfer to another school I'll still be a 2nd year even though I'll be in my 3rd year of school. It's exhausting and it's common for students to sacrifice sleep for their projects and work to be complete. After all the work we do, we don't get enough credits at all.

I don't own a car personally but from what i've observed there is literally no parking. I'm sure there is a parking garage, but the T is extremely reliable. So no parking no problem, you can go where you need to in the matter of minutes. Newbury St is a long, busy street if everyone just parked there then it would be almost impossible to get back & fourth.
College Student 2010-12-26T17:01:29Z
Strict but Fair – Like any college there has to be guidelines and how well they are being followed. The campus is strict in areas of causing harm to others or to property. Other than that i can't complain is seems fair in all aspects. I'm sure there are regulatory rights in which strict discipline action must be taken. To me Boston Architectural College is a second home and you don't walk around your home with muddy shoes do you?

Health & Safety:
Building Lock Down – The safety at Boston Architectural is extremely reliable. Upon entering the building they are visible and you must walk by them to get where your going. The guards are friendly and seem to take all steps to insure the safety of all the students as well as faculty. I've yet to experience any threatening crimes or come across anything presenting harm towards me or anyone else. Overall at Boston Architectural College the building is locked down!

Building Dreams – Boston Architectural is full of life and beauty. It's located with in the downtown area, borderline fenway home of the Red Sox. Shopping is available all through the Newbury St area. There are many sites to be seen, makes going to school worth every moment.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
