As Long as We Don't Catch You.. BC recognizes that students party, and try to educate their students enough to do it responsibly. Technically it is against school rules to party in dorms that house underage students, but if you are quiet and respectful of other rules, RA's are generally lenient. They are students too, and understand that you want to have fun. I've never had a problem, but repeated offenses can result in housing probation.

Guys & Girls:
Very Preppy, but Generally Friendly – Both the guys and girls at BC are predominately wealthy and preppy. There are many "frat bros" and "snooty girls" but there are also plenty of down to earth, friendly guys and girls. The student body is generally very friendly.

Good Education, Hard Workload – The workload at BC is extremely difficult, but the professors are usually very accommodating and helpful. If you put the effort into the work and get outside help, there should be no reason not to make decent grades.

Lots of White Students – Boston College seems to consist mainly of wealthier white students. However, it is more diverse than most private colleges in that people of all backgrounds and cultures can be found there.

Hockey Is Huge – At Boston College, hockey is way more popular than football. The popular jocks at the school are hockey players, and the football team is a laughing stock. Even though football games are in the early afternoon and the team is not great, I gave sports an A- because hockey is so popular and so much fun to watch. It is definitely worth buying season tickets for.

An Attractive Campus – Boston College has a wonderful campus and amazing buildings. There are a lot of athletic events to attend and the entire town is very homey.

The weather here changes from day to day so you never really know what to expect. Weather channels will tell you one thing and the reality will be completely different. Rain/snow seasons here are brutal.

Diverse but Segregated – There are lots of ethnic/culture clubs on campus but minimal to no interaction between minorities and white students.

Public transportation is inconvenient. BC is located on the B line, but it is slow and makes many stops. To get to the faster D line, you have to take BC shuttle bus to Reservoir- there's always a lot of transferring to get anywhere from BC. We're pretty far from downtown Boston and from major public transportation stations (South Station, Logan airport, etc.).

Mostly the Same – I feel like it is not very diverse at BC compared to my HS and other colleges. However, there is a group called AHANA that will help you in any way you need. Most of the students here are catholic and attend church, but its not forced upon.

Drinking > Drugs – I feel like there is a huge drinking scene, but that's pretty common in all colleges. However the drug scene isn't that big. It just depends on who you hang out with. Personally, not alot of my friends do drugs

Cleveland Circle – BC is located in Chestnut Hill. There arn't a lot of dining options to go to unless you're in Boston. Most people will go to Cleveland Circle which is the college hub for students to go to. There are some dining places, such as Chipotle, Thai Bistro, etc.

Health & Safety:
I feel that BC's campus is very safe. I have never witnessed anything dangerous or harmful. I, myself have never directly been discrimated at or ever felt discriminated at the school. It is a very safe environment. There are also polices around to assist, if problems are needed. During late nights, there are escorts as well. Overall, it's very safe!

Great Apartments! The apartments near BC are great! Although the prices may vary, anyone can find an apartment. Most are suite styles which is great. They are located right near main campus so it's very convenient. Also, they are located near public transportation, such as buses and the Ts. The downside is that the apartments may be a little expensive and limited parking. Other than that, the apartments are great!

Everyone Is More or Less Alike – Although there are exceptions, most people at BC are alike-- Irish Catholic and middle/high class. This can be frustrating at times.

Let me go on a rant about this.
As far as majors go, BC doesn't really like to give its students a wide range of choices. Want to be an engineer? Don't come to BC, it's not there. If you didn't already know that you wanted to be a business major before you started college. Then you're most likely not going to be one. You have to apply to get in before you're a freshman and then its almost impossible to transfer in. International Studies major, you have to apply to get in freshman year, if you don't get it then you can forget about being an IS major. BC is entirely limiting.

Not Too Strict – Boston College isn't too strict at all. Walsh dormitory does require students to check in their friends, but it doesn't stop anyone from having visitors as long as they have their ID. And it's not like BU where EVERY dorm requires you to check in friends.
College Senior 2012-05-31T14:03:52Z
It's Alright – You can get diversity if you really are willing to put yourself out there. But as far as the entirety of the campus goes, its not happening.
College Senior 2012-05-31T13:55:43Z
It's Alright – THe library is great, but the recreational center needs help

Convenient, Delicious! There are a lot of off campus options and many places will deliver. Eagle's Deli is my favorite, their food is delicious! I wish some of the places had student discounts, but in general the food is affordable.

Housing Lottery Needs Improvement – The housing isn't that great, though I've never had a problem with it. As a freshman, Newton campus is the best place to live. The dorm rooms are bigger than on main campus and it is like living in your own community. All of the seniors love living in the mods but they definitely need some improvement. Walsh should be knocked down. The housing lottery doesn't seem fair and it is very stressful.

Health & Safety:
There are plenty of police officers and they arrive quickly when you call them. I have never been in a situation where I have needed to call the police for a safety concern. I wish there were more lights on campus for students walking around at night, and more emergency call buttons.
College Senior 2012-05-30T23:38:18Z
Drugs Aren't Too Noticeable to Me – I don't find drug use to be TOO huge of a problem. But maybe that's just in my immediate group of friends.

Covers Many Subjects, Close Department – The Theater Department at BC is a very tight community. Most students have personal relationships with all the professors within the department. The professors know their area of expertise well and the department as a whole covers a wide array of subjects within the world of theater.
College Junior 2012-05-23T16:11:57Z
Jersey Trash and White Wash – Too many Jersey kids. Barely any diversity at all. The international students all know each other and any minority students have their own little cliques. The white students are the majority of all students at BC. People don't care about diversity as much as they should.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
