Nothing to Complain About – Campus dining at BC is far superior to most other schools. It is true that they reuse a lot of the same menu items, and there will be times when you walk through the dining hall and there is nothing that appeals to you at the time. But all things considered, food here is pretty good.

It rains in the fall, snows in the winter, and is pretty nice in the spring. I am from nebraska and people complain about weather here all the time and its ridiculous. Buck up North Easterners.

The only way to get parking is if you are seriously handicapped or in ROTC and even then it is around 200 a month. The thing is though you don't really need it. BC is located on three different T stops.

Monopoly Money – you really only need to carry your id on campus no one uses cash or credit/debit, it works for dinning vending laundry and you can use it at the convince store and some restaurants near by

Roommate Selection Can Be a Bitch – Beware the freshmen girl population during february and march goes crazy trying to figure out rooming for next year. Rooms all generally pretty nice everyone hates CoRo and Greycliff and the mods rooming wise are not all that they are cracked up to be.

North End Groupie – Its boston great food abounds. Some of my personal fans, Color Korean Deli, Assagio in the North End, Barking Crab down on the wharf.

Health & Safety:
BC is one of the safest schools you can find. I feel very comfortable walking around even late in the evening. For women take the R.A.D class it gets you in touch with the police officers on campus and once they know you if you ever need a problem they are very available. Also they have blue lights everywhere and the campus is very well light. If you feel even a little bit uncomfortable about walking back to your dorm from the library they have vans or walking services and the police officers are very nice. Sometimes they can be hard asses on off campus parties but always better to have the BC police break it up than the actual Boston police.

A Great Place to Live – freshman dorms are ok but after that the dorms offer a great variety. easy access to all and alot of different options.

At Boston College you will find the facilites to be quite good. The athtletic centers are a hub for many students. The sporting events and the gym is top notch. The libraries are accessable and a great place to study. Dorms are very nice and dining is exceptional. Always dorm or campus activities available and well attended

Police and RAs can be strict about drinking and drug use. You get written up the first time and the next it gets more severe. I would say be low key about it and be cooperative when you do get caught.
College Junior 2011-10-17T16:42:12Z
Drugs aren't as prevalent, you really have to ask for it and when you do it's difficult to get a hold of. Drinking is popular however BC has no frats or sororities so you have to go to senior housing to get access. BC police can be intense, specially with freshmen about drinking, but they have a policy that if you call for emergency help for yourself or your friend they will not write you down.

The BC dinning experience is very varied. There are many options and we are on a money based system rather than meal based so you really have the choice to go for meals that are truly very very good or just decently priced. We have a Chocolate bar that is very popular with students where you can use your eagle bucks. I had a friend visit and she, who attends American University, said that the food was definitely better at BC.

Convenient and Constant – Boston College has buses constantly running two routes (until two in the morning). One bus runs around Chestnut Hill campus and out to Newton Campus (where some freshman dorms are. The other runs down Commonwealth avenue and transports people from off campus housing. The B-line t stop is across the street from lower campus and provides easy access to boston. Overall I wouldn't advise a car, because parking is horrendous and expensive, but the public transportation is wonderful.

Tasty at Times, but Nothing Special – I've certainly eaten at worse dining facilities. Yet the fact that that description is the first to come to mind says a lot about the food. It can be good, but food is generally overcooked, and by the end of the year the repetition becomes grueling. Addie's Loft is a dining area that sources locally grown and organic food, and generally has delicious options. Overall I feel that I can't complain.

Beautiful, Safe, but Quiet – Boston College is surrounded by safe, beautiful, quiet suburbs. Newton and Chestnut Hill are lovely, but more of the sort of place I'd consider retiring to. Though boston is only a 35-40 minute T-ride away, BC is definitely separated from the expansive city. For a college student the area can become somewhat dull, despite its beauty.

BC has great academics. Professors truly care and are always willing to go the extra-mile with you whether it's being open to scheduling an individual appointment, pushing you to your limits, etc. You will receive a top-notch education here.

Very Easy – Choosing a major is completely simple. All you have to do is declare, then take the classes required. There are a few specialized programs with an application process, but the average student has it easy.

Dorms Are Great; Housing Selection Process Is Complicated – I have had a great experience with the dorms at BC. Dorm life is one of the best experiences at BC, but the housing selection process in Sophomore, Junior, Senior years is semi-complicated.

At a first glance, BC may seem to be predominantly Caucasian. However, minorities have an extremely strong presence on campus. Although they may not be as large in number, the minority students have a large impact on the BC community via a branch of the student government designed to focus solely on the needs of the AHANA (Asian, Hispanic, African American, Native American) community.

Not Overbearing – Although BC has my major, a lot of my friends came into BC not having a major because there is a somewhat limited selection. I love my major because I never feel overwhelmed and I think Political Science classes gear you to be a great thinker. There's a lot of reading to do and most of your exams will be papers, but with that in mind there's always an opportunity to ramble on an easy and possibly get a good grade versus selecting the wrong answer on a multiple choice bio quiz. I'm always getting constant emails about internships available to me and I have a fantastic support system in my mentors and adviser.

If your not familiar with the BC bubble chances are you don't go to BC. At Boston College there are tons of things to do in town because Boston is college town, but I feel many students don't take advantage of what they're given. There's Fenway, local shopping centers like Cambridgeside Galleria, Natick, and Copley. Plenty of bars and places to eat, and even movie theaters.
College Senior 2011-08-10T15:25:17Z
Drinking Is More Presemt – The drug scene at Boston College is pretty limited, depending on who you hang out with. Smoking pot is the only drug I have heard of some using. Drinking is much more widespread and popular
College Senior 2011-08-10T15:21:09Z
Sports Events Are Huge – D1 Sports at BC are a big deal - especially Football and Hockey. If you're not going to the football games in the fall, during those times you might as well study because the rest of the campus is dead. The spirit is amazing and the events and tailgates are so fun. Club is pretty competitive, so I tend to stick to IM. IMs are really fun, can be hard to get into because of limited space for teams.
College Senior 2011-08-10T15:15:12Z
Profs Truly Care – I am in the Business school, and I love it. All of my professors (in any of the schools) really care about not only how you're doing in class, but you're well being as well. They put a lot of time and effort in you if you return the favor.

Drinking Is Much More Popular Than Drugs. Drugs are not a very big thing at BC. If people are using drugs, it's usually just smoking. Drinking is much more popular and it seems like a pretty big part of life at BC. However, there are plenty of people who don't drink too. It all depends on what you want to do with your time at BC.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
