Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

You can find just about any type of food on campus at Boston College. From sushi to gourmet sandwiches, from international cuisine to American finger foods, BC has it all. Freshmen generally eat in Stuart or McElroy because it is closer to their dorms, while uppserclassmen dine at Lower. These three locations all serve the same type of foods, and try to switch up their menus as often as possible to keep things less monotonous.

Hillside Café is an especially popular place to grab a meal, serving gourmet toasted sandwiches, homemade potato chips (lovingly call “Frips”), and a variety of tasty dipping sauces. Lyons Hall, or The Rat, is located on Middle Campus and serves fast food—students stop here between classes for a quick hot dog or sandwich. Feeling especially classy? Try the fresh sushi or gourmet cheese platters. Eagle’s Nest is a student favorite, serving freshly tossed salads, soups in bread bowls, and ready-made wraps. If you have a sweet tooth, the Chocolate Bar is the place for you—it serves chocolate desserts, flavored coffees, and ice cream. Your meal plan covers all of these locations, and any student can eat at any dining hall on campus. Additionally, there are many nearby restaurants that will also accept your meal plan as a form of payment—some will even deliver right to your door!

Repetitive, but Very Good

There are a lot of choices at BC for dinning. There is no fast food near BC, but a lot of small chain restaurants not too far.

Good

The best foods on campus are in Eagles Nest or Hillside, which are very small and crowded. You spend most of your time waiting in line as the workers are not very efficient in getting your food to you quickly. Otherwise, the main dining halls get repetitive but are pretty good if you aren't used to having the same thing every week.

Dining Hall Food

The food on Lower campus is better than upper but they are both pretty good. People complain about the setup of paying with money instead of meal swipes, but if you think about it it's actually much better this way. The cooks are good and the selection changes often enough. Boston is close enough that if you really get tired of everything, you can just eat out anyway.
