Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Alcohol is where it’s at for BC. Whether it’s house parties, the bar, or football games, people on campus love to drink. It can be difficult when you’re under 21 because it seems like everyone is drinking but you, which might not be that far from the truth. The BCPD is very strict about underage drinking, so you really are taking a major risk every time you drink on campus if you’re not of age. Once you turn 21, though, there is suddenly so much more going on. Pretty much everyone drinks on campus, so get your drinking hat on. If you don’t drink, you’ll be able to find other people to hang out with, but you might feel a little like an outsider.

The illicit drug scene is not at all out in the open. It fluctuates in its popularity but is usually very quiet and not center stage, like as alcohol. While there are definitely people to see and places to go for any kind of drug under the sun, this type of activity isn’t usually popular with the majority of students. It’s there if you want it, but you can certainly avoid it if you’re not interested. Boston College administration and security officers are not tolerant of drugs. The school and its officials do not condone drug use of any kind, under any circumstances. Most students are afraid of the repercussions of not only the physical harm to their bodies, but also from the school administration if ever convicted of drug use. All in all, the drug scene is pretty tame. The alcohol scene, though, is a little more present.

Everyone Drinks and Smokes

Almost everyone Drinks at BC, (and this is a great thing) thats just a fact. If you arent drinking, you usally only hang out with the VERY small group of non drinkers. Most weekends are spent pregaming hard, then drinking more at the party if the keg hasnt run out. Most everyone smokes too, some more than others, but few will turn down a hit. Finally with hard drugs, most of the kids who go to electroic shows roll, but not all (such as myself). you will find people doing everything, but mostly just drinking and smoking.

Strict

At other schools, I know people who smoke every day. Not at BC; the one kid I know who does it is already on university probation. RA's knock on your door if they "smell" alcohol or weed (and they have a remarkably good sense of smell).

No Hard Drugs

Though there is obviously some Adderall and other sort of drugs, I don't hear much about anything more serious than weed. Drinking is definitely much bigger.
