College Prowler Take

All in all, Boston College is a safe place for students to go to school and hang out. During the first week of school, mandatory meetings give students the emergency and non-emergency information on locating and contacting the police. Incoming students are made aware of the potential dangers around them and are told about the best ways to avoid being victimized in any way. Also, police officers are always extremely friendly and helpful. Since it is such a safe environment, no one is ever too busy to tend to whatever small concern you might have. If something were to go wrong, they would come to your rescue immediately and do everything they could to help you.

Chestnut Hill is so safe that it’s almost embarrassing. Not that nothing bad ever happens here, but it is extremely rare. In all likelihood, you’ll never need to use the call boxes scattered around campus, but their presence radiates a constant feeling of security around the college grounds. The escort service is a wonderful addition to the safety on campus. Most students find it very reassuring that they can pick up a phone and have the school come pick them up. The BCPD always looks for ways to contribute to the students’ feeling of well-being. When you leave campus, though, you should probably be a little more careful. Boston is a pretty safe city, but you do need to be a little more cautious.

BCPD is so hardcore-they're all...

BCPD is so hardcore-they're all Boston police, too, so they carry guns, and have proper cars and uniforms. There's barely any crime, and if there is, it normally involves students doing something dumb. The school has emergency blue-light poles everywhere if there's a problem, as well as Eagle Escort to drive students places if necessary, but they're not the nicest people.

Boston College's campus is really...

Boston College's campus is really safe, and the fact that we have our own police force is really comforting when you're out at night. Aside from occasional paranoia, there shouldn't be any real fear of getting attacked around school.

I have never heard about anyone...

I have never heard about anyone being attacked at Boston College. There are a couple of people who might steal a phone or an iPod, but they usually end up dropping out. Police will arrest you if they catch you red handed, but RAs and other officials tend to be pretty lenient about drinking.

BC is extremely safe because we have so many police officers. It would be stupid to keep your doors open, but it's not dangerous

The security is really good at BC. I almost always see cops patrolling when I am walking anywhere at night, and they will escort you home if you feel unsafe. The school has the blue-light service, as well as Eagle Escort, which will walk you places at night.
