The public transportation system consists of the T— Boston’s version of a subway—and the BC bus. The BC bus can go either to Newton or to Cleveland Circle, where restaurants, a few bars, and pharmacies are located. It can be quicker than the T, depending on where you are going. It also depends on the time of day.

The T will take you pretty much anywhere in Boston, but it is not the quickest subway ever invented. It can be a long day if you decide to take the T from BC to downtown, but for shorter rides at off-peak times, the T is the way to go. Most T fares are a couple dollars, and the T shuts down after 2 a.m. Still, while it is working, it’s the cheapest way to get around town. Cabs are common and convenient; after all, they just take you right to your door instead of having to wait at some bus or T stop. They can also be somewhat cheap if you and a whole bunch of friends cram into them, but try to use them only for nights out, and rely on the T during the day.
