Playing it smart seems to be the best bet. Stick to your limits, stay far from University buildings when you expect to party, and if things tend to get out of control, make sure you are not in the dorms. Getting caught with drugs (or alcohol, if you are underage) may result in academic probation or removal from housing on campus. What you get away with depends largely on your housing assignment. Rules vary in strictness from dorm to dorm, and RA to RA.

Even if your RA is extremely lenient with all of the students living on the floor, do not expect to be let off completely. Be extra careful early on in the academic year because BU tends to “send a message” to students before things even get rolling.

BU likes to follow the laws-don't get busted! But if you do, cooperate, and it won't be as bad.

BU is really strict about drugs...

BU is really strict about drugs and drinking, on and off campus. I'd advise any incoming freshman not to get caught drinking in their dorms because first-time offenders have to pay a very significant fine, get put on probation, and are further punished by getting a bad housing number. There's also a possibility of getting kicked out of housing.

There is a zero-tolerance policy for weed, and you will get kicked out of housing if you get caught. Drinking results in warnings and could result in getting kicked out of housing. But, drinking is actually pretty easy to get away with in the dorms as long as you are not too loud.

The campus police are extremely strict about underage drinking and even of-age drinking if a student has more alcohol than the allowed amount. I would suggest not to drink on campus—go off campus. There is no amnesty at BU. If you have a friend who needs medical attention from drinking and you call the authorities, you will still get in trouble with BU if you are underage.
