College Prowler Take
Because the Greek aspect of campus life is lacking, students gather off campus at the large variety of clubs, bars, and lounges that constitute the nightlife of Boston. This brings several benefits to social living: You can interact regularly with students from other universities (Boston College, Emerson, Northeastern, MIT, and Harvard), as well as meet other individuals from the area, and you also have the benefit of incorporating so much more activity into a Friday night. This is a big step away from drunken nights spent trying to get closer to the keg. The downside, however, is that the majority of venues are 21-and-older, leaving those under the legal age to think of more creative ways to relish their nightlife. Boston draws big names in music, the arts, and all forms of entertainment, providing ample opportunities for either a good party or a cultural evening. Landsdowne Street tends to be the breeding ground for typical club-goers. Check out more causal and eclectic venues like the Middle East, Paradise Lounge, Phoenix Landing, Venu, or Rise. Of course, if a well-spent night of drinking is your primary interest, rest assured that anytime you stick thousands of college students in a small area, there is plenty of that sort of fun to go around. Apartment parties are usually open to the public for a few dollars, and just walking down Ashford Street on a Saturday is a sure bet for some heavy activity to show itself.

Parties, like everywhere, depend...
Parties, like everywhere, depend on the crowd that you hang out with. At BU, there are so many different types of people that it is hard to not find the right crowd. All clubs have been made 21+ as of a couple years ago in the state of Massachusetts. It is mainly the international students who go out to clubs and bars.

Parties on campus are lame. I went to one my freshman year and never went back. Everyone just goes to the same two streets, Ashford and Gardener, looking for a party. It's much better to go to a bar or a club since BU is so close to downtown Boston and Allston. In Allston, some of my favorite bars are White Horse and Our House.

There aren't really any parties on campus—they are almost always at off-campus apartments. There are a lot of good clubs and bars in the area, and some fun clubs downtown. Hot spots include White Horse, Big City, Joshua Tree, and An Tua Nua.

Parties on campus are pretty nonexistent since the housing policy is very strict. However, so many people live off campus that it's really not a problem. You can always find a party in a house or apartment off campus, especially on Ashford Street in Allston.

Parties on campus are great—well, not so much on BU's campus, but the neighboring schools throw great parties. Since clubs in Boston are 21+, parties are really our main source for entertainment at night until we reach the age of 21.

Organization Parties
Throughout the year, many cultural groups host parties that allow a student to dance from everything to Indian music to Latin beats. BU has also recently instituted Jammin Thursdays, a free dance party held every night at BU Central. Due to the vast amount of nightlife available outside of the campus, it is common to see poor attendance at dance events, especially since BU competes with other colleges such as dance parties hosted by Northeastern and MIT.
