Students all have a suggestion for just about every type of cuisine you could ask for, and there are virtually no complaints regarding the food in Boston. Restaurants off campus vary as widely as the city—offering pretty much everything. Going out to eat definitely seems to be a popular activity, and the prices tend to be pretty reasonable, especially around campus.

Clustered around the University, especially in the Allston/Brighton area, where many students live, there are tons of really cheap options with really good food such as Indian, vegetarian, Mexican, Brazilian, Italian, Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese. Check out Chinatown and the North End for the best food in the city.

Good Variety

There is a good variety of restaurants and dinning options in the immediate surrounding neighborhoods. Newbury Street is close to the east end of campus and offers more pricy dining options, while west campus has more affordable and late-night dining options. T Anthony's pizza is a must try!

Many Options, Very Convenient

One of the perks of being in a city - many many many places for off campus dining that generally are a better value than meals on the meal plan. This is why the mandatory (except apartment style housing) meal plan sucks because many places do not take convenience points and you end up paying out of pocket. But for those who are not on a meal plan, this is quite possibly the best place for off-campus options that are close and convenient from all residences.

  • For late-night munchies, hit up a Store 24 or a Dunkin' Donuts. Starmarket on Commonwealth Avenue is also a popular destination for late-night party dwellers, since it is one of the few places open 24/7.
  • BU offers Late-Night Cafés around campus at all of the traditional dining halls. Late-Night usually offers quesadillas, stir-fry, fried food, salad, fruit, chips, cookies, beverages, coffee, and the ever popular giant Rice Krispie treats.
