Finding a blond, blue-eyed hockey player with good grades or a brunette, green-eyed men's soccer team captain studying neuroscience is not difficult at Bowdoin. The guys here might be some of the hottest at any college in Maine. If you think the South harbors the best-looking students, take a moment and look at Bowdoin students before you rule out the North. Bowdoin is a very athletic school, and except for the few football players who need the weight to be competitive, most of the athletes at Bowdoin need to stay fit. Many suggest that Bowdoin looks like a modeling agency brought to life, not only because of the attractive students but in how people can become too wrapped up in their images, their work-out schedules, and how they eat. A nationally read magazine ranked Bowdoin in its Top Five for best-looking guys.
The girls at Bowdoin, however, get the shorter end of the stick when it comes to perception of attractiveness. The female population would not be considered unattractive, but the male consensus is that they’ve seen schools with better. The girls here don’t spend tons of energy in preparing their wardrobe and hair, while guys can get away with a lot and still look hot. But, while the girls aren't considered as attractive as the guys, they are viewed as more hardworking, more outgoing, and more into partying. Overall, both genders are considered to be fun and friendly. The hooking-up scene at Bowdoin is popular, but this campus is probably less sexually promiscuous than others because students here realize how hard it is to avoid someone they’ve hooked up with. Overall, at Bowdoin, you’ll meet a very diverse student body with many points of view, interests, and hobbies. Students feel a certain sense of comfort here, and they come to Bowdoin to learn, play, and get to know interesting people.

Classy, Focused, Different
Bowdoin pulls students from all over the country and so dress styles, habits and ways of speaking are all quite different. Most of the student body is from Massachusetts or Maine. There isn't a lot of dating at Bowdoin.

Hipster or Jock?
I'd say the two most prevalent social cultures are hipster and jock. General consensus is the campus is really attractive - boys and girls. Lots of love for NorthFace in the winter, Brooks Brothers for the guys during interview months, and J Crew for the girls for everyday wear.

Guys & Girls at Bowdoin College

It Is Like a Family.
Bowdoin College has just under 2000 students. Everyone knows everybody. We support each others athletic endeavors and enjoy a very real camraderie. I am a member of the Men's hockey team and our sister sport is Women's Volleyball. We attend all of their games, and they attend ours. Sports and academics go hand in hand at Bowdoin. It is a great place to be.
