College Prowler Take
The food at Brandeis is edible, but it’s nothing to rave about. Brandeis dining consists of only a handful of options. Sherman is broken down into kosher and non-kosher sides, and both are all-you-can-eat. The food here is only good if you keep kosher, if you’re really hungry, or if you have meals instead of points as a dining plan. Usdan is an à la carte dining area that is open during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Upstairs from Usdan is the Boulevard, which is open late. The food here is good, but the selection rarely, if ever, changes. Aramark, which runs the dining services, is very hesitant, it seems, to give the students what they pay for. Points can also be used at Einstein’s Bagels in the Shapiro Campus Center and at the POD market, the tremendously overpriced convenience store on campus. The last dining area is the Stein, an on-campus restaurant this is definitely the best option on campus, but it's only worth it if you have points. After 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, the Stein turns into Ollie’s Eatery, which offers a limited menu of expensive breakfast foods and very tasty shakes. All in all, most students find the dining a rip-off but say the food is okay. As long as can eat out often, find something you really like, or get a place with a kitchen, you certainly won’t starve.

The food is awful. The only thing they do reasonably well is breakfast. The best place to eat is Ollie's, the late-night diner. It is always amazing. Besides that, the food is mediocre, and the meat is undercooked half the time.

The food on campus is decent, but...
The food on campus is decent, but everything is controlled by Aramark, so essentially, the school sold its soul to the devil. They tried to fool us by opening up a Quiznos, but everyone knows that Aramark supplies Quiznos. Supposedly, it's said the wife of someone in Aramark is on the school board, so it does not seem like change will occur, at least not anytime soon. Knowing that they have a monopoly, prices consistently rise, yet the quality and quantity of food does not change.

Food is pretty decent. The dining hall is good—it serves all kinds of food, including sushi, vegan, and lots of hummus.

Usdan is usually alright, and...
Usdan is usually alright, and Sherman is okay if you have a meal plan reliant on meals because you can take as much food as you want. But you can't be picky, or you have to really know your way around to find tasty gems. I tend to just buy things from the C-Store, but that can be pricey sometimes if you don't manage well.

Brandeis has below-average dining....
Brandeis has below-average dining. With an awful all-you-can-eat buffet, you are sometimes not sure what you are eating. Considering the size of the student body, the other dining hall is not half bad. It could definitely use improvements, but the variation includes Mexican, Japanese, American grill, and pastas. Ollie's Eatery is a good late-night dining spot. It's open until 2 a.m. and has good pancakes and milkshakes.
