Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The food at Brandeis is edible, but it’s nothing to rave about. Brandeis dining consists of only a handful of options. Sherman is broken down into kosher and non-kosher sides, and both are all-you-can-eat. The food here is only good if you keep kosher, if you’re really hungry, or if you have meals instead of points as a dining plan. Usdan is an à la carte dining area that is open during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Upstairs from Usdan is the Boulevard, which is open late. The food here is OK, but the selection rarely, if ever, changes. Aramark, which runs the dining services, is very hesitant, it seems, to give the students what they pay for.

Points can also be used at Einstein’s Bagels in the Shapiro Campus Center and at the POD market, the tremendously overpriced convenience store on campus. The last dining area is the Stein, an on-campus restaurant; this is definitely the best option on campus, but it's only worth it if you have points. After 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, the Stein turns into Ollie’s Eatery, which offers a limited menu of expensive breakfast foods and very tasty shakes. All in all, most students find the dining a rip-off but say the food is okay. As long as you can eat out often, find something you really like, or get a place with a kitchen, you certainly won’t starve.

It's Actually Yummy

There are seven places on campus to get food: Upper Usdan, Lower Usdan, the C-Store, Einstein's Bro Bagels, Sherman, The Stein/Ollie's Eatery, and The Faculty Club (there are other little cafes around in the buildings too). They all offer difference food choices and different (but coinciding) times. Upper Usdan and Lower Usdan are the best for actual meals with real food. They have a lot of different food choices there, ranging form good breakfast food (served all day) southern food, wraps and subs, and pizza. The C-Store is for your snacks and fresh food and fruit. Einsteins has yummy bagels and coffee. Sherman is generally a no-go unless you want a LOT of average college food (its buffet-style) or good kosher food. The Stein is an on campus restaurant but it's really Ollie's you want to go to. They have diner-style breakfast food that can be paid for with points. The Faculty Club is a nicer restaurant that you sorta have to make reservations for. They're a bit fancy but really good food. Every dining hall has to-go food (except sherman) and every dining hall (except The Faculty Club) can be paid with a meal plan. Even though a lot of student's complain (except those keeping kosher) the food here is actually pretty good.

Makes Me Sick but Good

The food is awesome to some people. I love Einsteins and the Stein. But with my stomach problems I can't eat most of it. But not bad at all. Also the Panini's are great!

Dining Is Meh

We don't have great dining here. The food prepared on campus is not very good, but we there is a convenience store on campus that sells great (expensive) prepared meals and every other little thing you could need.
