Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Brandeis nightlife is truly what you make of it. If you’re an active and outgoing person, there are lots of parties and opportunities to take advantage of, but most people choose to sit around, complain about the lack of social options, and wait for a party to come to them. Truth be told, there is a good deal of nightlife to be had at Brandeis, if you are willing to go out and find it. The nice part about the University's location is that when nightlife on campus stinks, you can always go to another college in the area. Chances are either you or one of your close friends will know someone at Bentley, Harvard, MIT, Northeastern, Tufts, Boston University, or Boston College, and there are always parties to attend there. The trouble is actually getting back since the MBTA stops running at 1 a.m., and the last shuttle leaves shortly after.

The other option is to go into Boston. Although the city is notorious for closing its doors early, there is still plenty to do before 2 a.m. There are many clubs and bars, and Harvard Square, Landsdowne Street, Kenmore Square, and Newbury Street always draw a lot of Brandeis students. For leisure activities, there are many sports teams to watch, and there’s a place called Jillian’s where you can go and play video games for prizes or shoot some pool. Not to beat a dead horse, but Brandeis is not a party school, but there is fun to be had if you look for it.

Not Bad

Transportation to waltham is not bad, there are vans every 15-30 minutes until 2 am. There are shuttles to boston over the weekend including thursdays. there is the commuter rail as well, but it doesnt run often especially in the weekend.

parties are a lot over the weekend (Fri&Sat) especially during rush for greek life-- they are at off-campus houses. Student events and Student Activities and some clubs have big parties. International Club runs really good parties. There are Stein nights (restaurant/diner at school) with free food for all and free beer for 21+.

There are a couple bars in the area for 21+, no clubs except for Boston. There are students that have connections, they can arrange buses and get you on lists for clubs in Boston if you ask them. The bars in Waltham have Brandeis nights, Bentley nights etc. They are fun and chill.

Brandeis Nightlife: It Works?

In terms of nightlife, the best option at Brandeis is to go to a different college. While there is Greek life present on campus, it isn't officially recognized by the school, nor is it hugely populated. The fraternities and sororities do throw some decent parties, but the distance to their houses can sometimes make going to the parties a hassle. Plenty of students choose to go into Boston instead, where BC, BU, Harvard, and occasionally MIT parties serve as a great change of pace from the very academically-focused Brandeis.

You Want It, You Can Find It

There's always something going on somewhere on campus and at Brandeis if you can find out about it, you can go. That's parties, student event stuff, movie screenings, concerts, etc. Even though there is something always going on, it's not always the best. Not the best parties, events, movies, performers...But it's fun with friends.

What to Do if You're Not 21What's This?

Unfortunately, the Boston club scene is not very friendly to those under 21. It is probably best just to stick around campus, where there is usually some fun activity.
