Brandeis nightlife is truly what one makes of it. If you’re an active and outgoing person, there are lots of parties and opportunities to take advantage of, but most people choose to sit around, complain about the lack of social options, and wait for a party to come to them. Truth be told, there is a good deal of nightlife to be had at Brandeis, if one is willing to go out and find it. The nice part about the University's location is that when nightlife on campus stinks, you can always go to another college in the area. Chances are either you or one of your close friends will know someone at Bentley, Harvard, MIT, Northeastern, Tufts, Boston University, or Boston College, and there are always parties to attend there. The trouble is actually getting there, but if you know someone with a car, you’re all set. The other option is to go into Boston. Although the city is notorious for closing its doors early, there is still plenty to do before 2 a.m. There are many clubs and bars, and Harvard Square, Landsdowne Street, Kenmore Square, and Newbury Street always draw a lot of Brandeis students. For leisure activities, there are many sports teams to watch, and there’s a place called Jillian’s where you can go and play video games for prizes or shoot some pool. Not to beat a dead horse, but Brandeis is not a party school, but there is fun to be had if you look for it.

The parties are pretty pathetic. Brandeis is not a party school. There are the frats to party at off campus, but their parties are hit or miss. There really aren't good bars and clubs unless you're willing to go into Boston.

Brandeis parties fall into two...
Brandeis parties fall into two categories. 1. Frats and athletes. They are completely separate from the rest of campus, so I don't know anything more about this category. 2. Everyone else. They have good, small, creative parties where you get to meet interesting people, have fun, and have genuine interactions.

Parties on campus are horrible,...
Parties on campus are horrible, and bars off campus are expensive. Boston is good only—and I repeat only—if you are truly over 21. A fake ID is nonexistent in this town—they are super strict everywhere.

Campus parties are, without exception, god-awful and are frequently hosted by frats. You're better off finding friends in Boston and going to small parties with them or getting a suite and hosting your own.

There are parties in residential halls that get old quickly. Off campus, the frats and sororities often have parties. Seniors enjoy the bars on Main Street, most notably The Mad Raven.

Organization Parties
Recently, the student government has been trying to curb spending by cutting back on official parties, and hassles from the Administration have cancelled events of the past like the legendary Modfest. However, clubs still throw parties, and there is the Midnight Buffet during finals.

For those looking to drop some serious cash on a fabulous night of clubbing, Roxy is the place to do it. Thursdays is college night, and they admit in those 18-and-up. The rest of the weekend is reserved for 21-and-up. The Roxy boasts the city’s largest dance floor. Roxy 279 Tremont St. Boston (617) 338-ROXY
The Big Easy, while only open on weekends, is one of the hottest, craziest spots for Boston-area 20-somethings to let loose and enjoy a night of dancing and partying. For those who still enjoy the Bourbon Street-style atmosphere but want a quieter spot, there is the Cresent Club—a private room on the second floor.
The Rack is versatile. It’s a pool hall; it’s a pizza restaurant; it’s a bar. There’s a dance floor, and many nights it offers live music. The Rack 24 Clinton St. Boston (617) 725-1051
With two restaurants and three performance rooms, the Middle East complex is one of the best clubs in Boston. They feature a huge variety of music, with a not outrageous cover charge.

The Mad Raven is the most popular bar for Brandeis students, especially Wednesdays. They offer jazz nights, trivia nights, and private parties.
The Purple Shamrock has nightly entertainment, including DJs, live music, and karaoke. They also have a menu consisting of many Irish and New England specialties.
This bar has a little bit of everything. With plasma TVs for sports fans, wireless Internet for the e-mail obsessed, good food, and a good beer selection, its no wonder it was voted one of the “Great Eight Pubs” in New England by the Phantom Gourmet.
This is the perfect place to stop for a drink or two with friends, or to relax after a hard week of classes, the Wonder Bar has decent prices for beers and cocktails. Wonder Bar 186 Harvard Ave. Allston (617) 351-2665
What to Do if You're Not 21
Unfortunately, the Boston club scene is not very friendly to those under 21. It is probably best just to stick around campus, where there is usually some fun activity.
