BYU Hawaii is a church school so it is very strict. There is no drinking, drugs use, or inappropriate behavior allowed. On top of this there is an honor code to enforce modesty.

Compared to other BYU schools Hawaii is pretty lay back bit compared to other state universities, BYU Hawaii is pretty strict. No alcohol or drugs, no violence, no cheating and no people of opposite sex in bedrooms I would say are the biggest things.

BYUH is an LDS school, so the rules regarding illegal substances and dress code are all extremely strict. Other than that, things are pretty lax.

Brigham Young University - Hawaii or BYUH has one of the most strict honor codes in the world. However the difference between BYUH and other colleges is that the student choose to follow this honor code, where as in other colleges students are forced to follow an honor code. BYUH is a religious college, and the students are predominantly members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. The school prohibits the drinking of alcohol, the use of recreational drugs, and the use of tobacco. Men are strictly prohibited from entering the women's dormitories and women are likewise prohibited from entering the men's dorms. These rules are made to avoid the temptation to have sexual intercourse outside of marriage, which is also not allowed.
BYUH also has a dress code. Men are not allowed to have piercings or beards. Women are not allowed to wear skirts to extend to only above the knee. Women are also not allowed to wear clothes with no sleeves. In BYUH we believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men. By following the honor code we know that we can draw closer to God.

In some instances this is a nice feature to the school. They are very strict on drug use and alcohol use at any age. Taking part in this results in automatic suspension. I like being in an atmosphere that is strict with this. It provides a safer campus. On the other hand they are a little strict with the dress code. Sometimes it gets a little ridiculous. You can get in trouble just for having shorts or a skirt even a centimeter above your knee. I think this is a little ridiculous. After all it is Hawaii. But I guess they have to set the line somewhere.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
