Because of the strong international influence of The Church of Latter-day Saints and BYU-Idaho affiliation with The Church, LDS members come from around the world to attend BYU-Idaho. Many cultures are introduced to students through the influence of international students. Brigham Young University-Idaho strongly encourages students to organize groups that center on different cultures of the world. A very large percentage of the male students has served a two-year mission, where each goes anywhere in the world to spend time serving people. These young men bring back different languages and cultures with them to the school, sharing what they learned with others.

The Church teaches love for all of God’s children and respect for every individual’s culture and beliefs; the University holds true to this teaching. Even though the school has a high percentage of students who belong to the Church, many non-members are admitted to the school, as well, as long as they commit to live the standards established by the school’s Honor Code. Students from all cultural and religious backgrounds find a pleasant welcome from the student body and students interested in their beliefs and where they came from.
