Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Rexburg is a small town. The population is less than the number of students who attend the school. The dominant religion of the community is Latter-day Saint (Mormon), just as the campus community is, so the town environment is very similar to the campus environment. It is a very family-oriented Christian community. Some local residents don’t really like having college students around town because they are younger and add a rambunctious energy to the town, but other local residents like the students for that very reason. The students are also part of the reason some businesses and culture have come to Rexburg and are able to flourish in the area.

One of the most appealing characteristics is the kind and genuine people. Students often find themselves surrounded by friendly people who smile and say hi, whether they know you or not. Students go out of their way to hold doors for one another and strike up a conversation. It’s not hard to meet people who you click with and develop a fast friendship. Another thing that adds appeal to the area is the outdoorsy feel. Rexburg has many different landscapes and outdoor activities during all seasons. It can certainly be a breath a fresh air to students who come from crammed, busy cities.

Rexburg Is a Great Place to Be

Here in Rexburg we have a pretty clean atmosphere. We have very few if any bars here. We do have restaurants and movie theaters here and we also have parks and dancing here. The local attitude to us students is really great. People who live here in Rexburg don't have a problem with us and we can usually go anywhere we need to without any problems. Granted there are some students that are obnoxious and cause problems but there are VERY few of them.

Fun and Safe!

BYU-Idaho is located in a small (safe) town called Rexburg. They are constantly trying to appeal to the likes of the college students; they even put in a small water attraction recently. There's plenty to do there with parks, sand dunes, campgrounds, mountains, and rivers; all of these landmarks make it possible for endless possibilities of fun. The college has invested in making fun, cheap, extracurricular activities available to as many students as possible (horseback riding, skiing, sports, canoeing, dancing, movies, etc...) Fun, fun, fun!
