Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

BYU-Idaho is not a party school. Nightlife activities range from catching a movie to attending a house party. That probably sounds pretty mild, and that’s because it is. Most of the big events that take place in Rexburg are funded by and held at the University. There are no local bars or clubs where students go frequently to hang out and party. This is partially because of the Honor Code and students' personal commitments to refrain from consuming alcohol, but also because Mormon culture approaches nightlife and parties a little differently than the typical experience portrayed in movies or in many U.S. cities. Most students’ idea of a party is something a little more similar to a sock hop with cake and punch or maybe some Pictionary or human battleship and other activities that designate more of a specified purpose other than simply partying.

BYU-I does have a lot of concerts and performances that students really enjoy. Events like Battle of the Bands, Acoustic Café, and Guitars Unplugged get a lot of quality student performances that students get really excited about seeing and make the effort to attend regularly. The University also hires other performers and gives students reduced ticket prices to see exceptional shows. A lot of the concerts also have dances afterward that students enjoy.

No Clue

BYU-Idaho is a religious school where all students are expected to live by the honor code, which includes no drinking, no premarital sex, modest in clothing, being home by midnight each night except Friday's it is 1am. These rules are not to limit people, but to keep us free from dangerous sin.

But just because we live by the honor code, does not mean we don't have fun! There's always something to do either on campus or with friends outside. Lots of people have huge bon fires in the sand dunes about 20 min outside of Rexburg. There are Many more fun things to do.
