Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most students prefer off-campus housing because it brings a little more independence and allows for a more diverse living arrangement between upper- and lowerclassmen. Many students will sign a contract for dorms their first couple of semesters, and then they have a chance to visit some of the apartments and decide on one where they would like to live. Some students prefer living with friends and sign contracts as groups, and others sign up to be with a random group of roommates to meet new people.

Most of the apartments are similar in setup, with three rooms and one bathroom area with two toilets, two showers, and two sinks. There are options for a single room, but the majority of students opt to have shared rooms because of the lesser cost. The higher-priced apartments usually have more options for shared rooms and more modern appliances and design, as well. Typically, women’s housing is better kept than men's housing. But all student-approved housing has regular "clean checks" that ensure students are keeping their apartments clean. The apartments also enforce the Honor Code when students sign their semester/two-semester contract. Students can also save a little money by signing a contract for two semesters instead of one.

There Is Something for Everyone.

Odds are there is a type of housing that you are looking for. Most places offer tours. It's so nice. Everyone is friendly. Things kind of fill up fast though.

Very Good

Depending whether you are single or married - single housing has to be up to BYU-I standards and requirements, so single housing is generally good. Single housing is also generally within a couple of blocks of campus. Married/community housing is not always so accommodating, well priced or available. Also, most married housing you would need to have a car to easily get to school with; you could walk but it would take a while.

So Many Choices, but It's So Expensive!

Rexburg offers a lot of really great options for off-campus housing. The only thing is the prices are high. However, you will get exactly what you pay for. For example, The Ivy is currently the newest housing for women and it is also one of the priciest pads in town, but it's also the NICEST apartments in town.
