Overall Experience

A BYU experience is unlike anything else. The things that you will learn go far beyond what is taught in the classrooms, and the people that you will meet are exceptional. Researching the school, and being familiar with the rules and expectations of students, will make the transition smoother and help you get the most out of your BYU experience.

Talking with people who have attended, reading books such as this one, and looking at the BYU Web site (www.byu.edu) are all great ways to make sure that this is really the school for you. If you decide that BYU is what you want, then jump in and enjoy it! You are in for a great and character-building experience.

I love BYU. I do not wish I were anywhere else. As long as you think you’ll be comfortable with the Mormon culture, you will love it, too.

I had opportunities to attend other academically-prestigious schools, but I’m so happy that I chose BYU. However, I’m not sure I’d recommend it, unless you are comfortable with Mormons and our culture.

I never had a great desire to go to BYU before. However, I can tell you now that there is no other school I would rather be at, no better place to get an education, and no better environment to be around. I don’t know if you are LDS, but I grew and learned so much during my first year, and the awesome experiences just keep on coming. I hear about the crap that goes on with my old friends at other colleges, and it just makes me even more grateful that I am at such a fantastic university where I have the opportunity to be around such wonderful people, on a beautiful campus, and in a place where I can grow and learn more than I ever imagined. Like any place, BYU has a few downfalls, but the benefits totally outweigh them. All I can say is, forget any other option, and go to BYU!

I love BYU so much that I hate being home for the summer. I have had the opportunity to do a lot of things that I wouldn’t have been able to do at other schools. BYU has even helped me to spread my wings to things I never thought I could do. I would never pick to be somewhere else, and I am glad that I chose to go to BYU.
