It snows in the winter semester but BYU's grounds crew works hard to keep campus in good walking condition. However because campus is sort of on a hill it can get unpleasant walking up to campus during the winter

BYU actually has a honor code that students live by. It is refreshing in a sense to know that you won't be looked at differently because everyone is sort of under the same understanding of living conditions.

BYU is the most that I have ever been academically stretched in all aspects of life not just lecture and tests. My education has expanded and broadened to try and learn, apply, and make good use for others by what we are taught.

There are people of many different races and religions at BYU, but they comprise a negligible percentage of the student body. Most people here are white, and as a consequence, the school does a decent job at providing for the needs of ethnic groups and different religions

The dorms offer a variety of options. Helaman Halls is more expensive, but if you do not know how to cook and want a social atmosphere than it is great. Heritage is very affordable, and though they are not as nice as Helaman, they are still good to live in. They allow you to spend your money on food you want and have stoves and ovens readily available. Wyview is the cheapest housing, but it is the furthest away. There is a decent amount of space, but usually the distance is a little far. The social atmosphere in all three is very good.

There are people of many ethnic backgrounds and cultures. There are very few however. The school is known for being a white school. There are a decent number of hispanics that attend the school however.

The food is pretty good, but it doesn't vary very much. It's a lot of chain restaurants that you could find anywhere. Some local places are interesting, but they're more like holes-in-the-wall.
College Junior 2013-05-30T15:43:29Z
It's COLD here and the weather doesn't often improve until spring time. Heavy snowing is frequent and you will want some heavy boots and a good coat. Classes are rarely cancelled, but if you live on campus the classes aren't too far.

The rules, to begin with, are VERY strict at BYU-I. There is strictly enforced curfew, dress and morality code. Most people obey the rules well, but be careful of what you do. Off campus, do what you want, but if you're on campus be wary that you will probably get caught and thrown out of the school after a few warnings.

Most people that come to BYU live really close to the campus so they dont have to travel much. Those who live at home usually have a car they can drive.

There are a few good options, but there could be more options and places to go.

It gets pretty cold and snows a lot during the winter season but the campus buildings aren't too far apart so it's not a huge deal. During the spring and summer there are lots of outside activities and everyone hangs out on the lawns.

The rules are strict at BYU. They comply with the LDS faith. If you don't adhere to the Honor Code their are consequences that could eventually lead to being kicked out.

The drug scene at BYU is basically non-existent. It is one of the requirements to attend their that we do not participate in things such as drugs or alcohol.

No drinking, no drugs, if you are with the right people

I have never participated in an internship associated with BYU

Home Away from Home – The town where I attend school is the perfect size town. Everyone is alike, and the city reflects it. We are not a party school, which makes it easy to meet really nice people and really get to know who they really are. Everyone is here to learn and gain a proper education.

There is a wide variety of different types of dining. But they are all pretty average or cheaper places, meaning that the best quality is not to be expected. But it is really good for someone on a poor college student´s budget.

Guys & Girls:
BYU is a great place with great guys and girls. Everyone is smart, friendly, attractive, and there is no smoking, drinking, or drugs allowed on campus. Everyone likes to serve and everyone is very helpful.
College Freshman 2013-05-22T02:33:51Z
Obviously there's not a whole lot of drinking. The Wall is a good place to hang out, and there's some other cool stuff to don on and around campus. Places close pretty early, and of course it's dead Sunday.
College Freshman 2013-05-22T02:31:32Z
I was surprised at how challenging the classes were, having taken a lot of IB classes in high school and thinking they would be similar. The academics are challenging but very high quality, and for the most part the teachers know their stuff and are great professors.

It was never a problem receiving financial aid. Sometimes it took a little longer than expected, but usually the money came in on time. The financial aid office was generally very knowledgeable and helpful also.

Overall off-campus housing prices are very reasonable, there are lots of options and good availability. We never had a problem finding a place that suited our needs. The rest depends on the landlord. Some are great, some are not so great. Also read the contract carefully. I moved a month earlier before the contract expired and could not find someone to take over my contract. My landlord called me asking if it was alright if she found someone to take over the contract, I said yes, and was charge $200-$300 because I allowed her to find someone. Every other landlord I had though was awesome!

No, not everyone is from Utah and not everyone is judgmental. Given it's honor code, BYU is as diverse as it can be.
College Senior 2013-05-17T18:08:48Z
This should be obvious: BYU has the world's strictest honor code. Drugs are dumb, but if you want to do them, this is not the school for you.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
