I'm at Brigham Young University, and I'm an Exercise and Wellness Major with a minor in Communications. I love my major, especially because everyone in that department is very nice and easy to work with. We all have a passion for the same thing, so it makes school not seem so tedious. They are very good at providing opportunities for internships, jobs, etc. It is a great major, and makes me excited to work in health promotion when I graduate!

Provo isn't a big town, but it is very popular. It is filled with people that come from all sorts of different countries, states, and backgrounds. Everyone is very nice and welcoming. There are a lot of fun things to do, and the honor code keeps the atmosphere clean and pleasant. It is a great place to live.

There are always activities going on, but if you're looking for parties or clubs, BYU is not really the place for that. You can travel relatively short distances to get there, but on or near campus is very dull at night.

As far as diversity, BYU is getting better, but there's still a vast majority of Caucasian and Mormons. However, acceptance is normally very well among students and faculty for any race, religion, or politcal belief.

There are lots of open-availability computer labs, with wireless access pretty much all over campus. The network quality is good.

There is a pretty large variety of on-campus food and it's all pretty decently priced. You can always find something that you're in the mood for at least

There is no nightlife at BYU. If you want to go to parties you have to go to UVU or the U.

There is snow and rain during winter but the cold is not that extreme because there is hardly any humidity here. The winters are definitely tolerable. Fall and Spring are really nice. Summers are hot and dry.
College Senior 2012-10-16T00:23:12Z
There are no drugs on campus, it's also against the honor code to use

Parking is the worst. There are never any spots open, and the parking police are Nazis

You can find pretty much any type of food you could possibly want if you know where to look for it.

The weather in Utah changes every thirty seconds. It will be sunny and warm one minute, and the next it's snowing and the wind is blowing, and then the next minute everything is fine and sunny again. Be prepared for all types of weather at all times. You never know if you're going to need your coat and umbrella or not!

BYU offers very little financial aid, and so many students apply for it that it is nearly impossible to get anything. It's much easier to find financial aid from other sources.

Brigham Young University is fairly ethnically diverse, with students from all over the globe. It has students with every economic background imaginable, and differences in political beliefs are fairly small. Most BYU students are LDS, which is great, but it makes it difficult for students who are not LDS to feel accepted. It also means that the student body as a whole is definitely heterosexual. There is a strong prejudice against homosexuals due to a combination of religious beliefs and a lack of tolerance.

Guys & Girls:
I think there is a pretty good variety of types of students. I do feel there is a majority of preppy people and the typical sales guy stereotype. There are also a lot of people who have caught on to the "hipster" look. Everyone is fairly attractive though and you can find basically any type of person if you look.

Parking on campus is very congested and usually fills up really quickly. Although parking may be difficult though, walking is an easy replacement as everything is fairly close by. I walk everywhere and have not had a problem.

The weather is usually very decent throughout the year. It does snow and get icy during the winter but besides that, it really is great!

We have people of all sorts of ethnic background but the majority is white LDS people. Because of this, it is hard for mixing to occur and BYU has a reputation of being all mormon kids that are wealthy snobs. Although there are a majority of white kids, there is also a diverse community of students within Provo and on campus.

At BYU becuase of the Honor Code, there is very low visible drug use. You still here of some people that do but it is so low that it is not likely you will run across it unless you actively seek it out.

Endless discussions about author intent... The Shakespeare class was great.

Guys & Girls:
People are really nice, but the girls try too hard to impress the guys, and people can be judgmental.

With their BYU ID cards, students have access to the athletic centers and the library without any charge. I use the equipment without charge. The majority of my use has been using the tennis rackets, balls, and courts. There is an indoor and outdoor track. There is an indoor pool. Students can reserve courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball, and a few other sports. There are all kinds of intramural sports. The campus has a ton of service activities and clubs. Tickets are always being sold for events. And usually, the tickets will have a discount, especially two for the price of one. I could continue for quite a while.

The sidewalks and roads are terrible. Bike lanes are scarce, so I am sometimes afraid to ride my bike to school. I am very brave on the days that I ride my bike. Also, the sidewalks are terrible, so I usually trip at least once on my walk to school. The activities and attractions are great, especially if an individual loves hiking and skiing or snowboarding. There are trails everywhere. BYU is on the side of the mountains, so hikes are great and the views are terrific. Shopping is fine. As a college student, I shop mostly for food. I don't like clothes shopping much. Cultural events are fantastic. BYU holds many cultural events and there are lots of events in the area as well.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
